No, I guess I agree that it's not dead. I do think it's changed a lot though. Everything evolves, and certain aspects of the original 77' scene are completely dead and any attempt to live it are just being nostalgic. Punk is still alive today, but it's a different thing.
real punk is not music or style but revolutionaries with ideals of a utopia expressed through music and style you cant kill ideas so you cant kill punk
OMG! this phrase is sooo overused and annoying. its definately not dead. theres plenty of punk bands out there, just they arent all in MTV's view and their shirts arent all sold in Hot Topic, thankfully, i mean rancid is coming out with a new album. the casualties are still touring. NOFX is touring. im just generalizing some of the more prominent punk bands of the culture, but i know a lot of local punk bands as well. and i live in connecticut. so im sure theres plenty more out there
Not dead, Might be dead to them, But for us, it's just beginning!
Hate fuckers that scream punk is dead, Youll be dead in about 5 seconds if you dont shut the fuck up :)
But yeah, It's just not commericalized like everything else, it's underground like I saw someone write below.
But if Punk was all over "Myspace" like that scene/emo shit *shakes head* then youll see little 12 year old girls wearing like ramones, sex pistols, clash if that screaming "Im so PUNK ROCK!" then we know the world is coming to end..
