Thanks, also wondering if i should be using stuff other than glue when I do a fan. My hair is abour 3.5 inches like i said and all i do is glue and blowdry, and it always comes out messily. What else should I use?

Spray is much better for doing a fan, as it is much finer. You need to use glue on the base of your hawk to get it nice and firm, but towards the tips you just need to use spray - however be prepared to use quite a bit of spray the longer your hawk gets.

I say use it whenever you want to start using it. It is easier, anyway and dries very quickly.
