How do I cut a hawk on longer hair??

My hair is like past my eyebrows so medium length

Well, generally you make it the width of between the center of your pupils. Watch as you go down the back to keep it the same width...people have a tendency to narrow the width as they go down the back of the head. Also, the back should be cut approx 1 inch longer than whatever length the top is....it will look more even and balanced to the eye if done this way.
As for cutting it yourself.......it is doable, but I don't recommend it....especially on the first time creating the Hawk from nothing so to speak. I would go to a good stylist that is up on the modern Hawk cuts or at the least get a friend or a friend of a friend who is decent at doing some hair cutting. You don't want to mess up the initial cut cause it is the basis from which you will be cutting from in the future. It is easier to keep the sides trimmed after, yourself if you want to, than to try to do it from scratch. Just my opinion, but I hope i helped you out. :-)
