seeking advice and ideas for "ponytail" - mohawk combo

hi fellow mohicans (or mohawkans?)
i now have a simple mohawk
however i'm thinking of growing a ponytail thingey like in the attached picture. i'm not sure how or where it starts to grow. certainly it won't be starting from sides? i couldn't find any illustrations or pictures on the net. any advice is appreciated!

i was actually thinking of 'normal' length mohawk on the top, but the back looks like that. i guess i'll let the lower-back part to grow and see what it'll look like

to me it just looks like a mohawk but wider, and then you would just have to trow some hairspray in and toss it around some, you probably might not even need the hairspray
