Right then, first off - I'm Dave, hopefully I'll be around here for a while (stumbledupon the forums)
I play airsoft, work at an army surplus and airsoft shop (think paintball but just far better in every way) and have talked with my boss about it, and he has given the go ahead as far as he is concerned.
I've fancied a mohawk for a while, nothing huge think 'tactical mohawk' (Kelly lake from tears of the sun). Maybe in red? just red tips?
My questions to you fine bunch are these:
I cycle a lot and I do wear a helmet-is there any way of keeping it up once I remove the helmet?
What products are recommended and easy to find in the UK?
Colours that are 'different' but nothing too flashy, I prefer warmer colours and I'm a natural redhead, so that was what I was leaning towards, but a plain ginger 'hawk just doesn't do it for me.
Who cuts/upkeeps yours? Did you inititally shave it yourselves or barbers/hair salons do the work?
Cheers

The helmet question i cannot answer that well, i know that i can wear a hoodie and mine will stay upp, but of course it wont be as strong (at least not for me)
As far as product goes, i use Got2b Glued Spking gel and the Got2bGlued freeze spray, really good stuff, a bit expensive though, i guess i spend about 50$+ every other month on a stock of hairsprays lol.
Colors im not too good at, i only got for bright colours lol, gonna dye min nuclear red, so. :)
Helmet will probably just squash it if you wear it for around and hour or more. Think you might have to do without the hawk on cycling days I'm afraid.
I'm in the UK and used to use got2b, which is very good I'll admit, but is pretty expensive. I use Silverkrin Maximum Hold now cus it's a quid cheaper and the can's about twice the size, and imo is just as good. Other than hairspray you don't really need anything else.
I had mine cut in at a barbers but since then haven't been back, I just shave it myself at home.
Good luck!
i think that most of us do our hair ourselves i do anyway, i think that red would look good id go like a dark red tho maybe some black streaks or tips ;), and i dont think you could keep it up after the helmet, depends on how much hairspray i guess if you folded it over under your helmet and carried a can of spray around with ya u might do all right dont know bout uk prouducts but ice hairspray or gotta be glued hairspray, and a blowdryer is all u need ;) g'luck

At the length your talking about I'd say go all red, but it sounds to me like youve already made up your mind and just want someone to confirm your decision, go with what you want!

When you get out of the shower blow dry your wet hair straight up and out, when its dry itll just stand up on its own at that length.

I agree, warm colors are bitchin'! Red, orange, and yellow were my favorite colors to do my hawk in, yellow and orange last forvere and red needs to be re-dyed every few weeks though.

I went to a salon for all 4 of my 'hawks to be cut, shaved the sides on my own, and went to a barber to trim it. My friends are retards, I don't want em eating in my car, much less cutting my hair!
I could cut your hair! I cut Eliott's all the time. (And he cuts mine)

For the helmet part.
um i ride moped, the helmet kills mohawks. dont put stuff in it if you are gunna be on a bike cause then it will stay the shape of the helmet....
i use superdrug Matt Clay and Tresemme Freeze Hold Salon Finish, because they work really well and are not testen on animals. :)
Any dark or muted colours, so maybe a dark forest green or deep blue? mauve or deep red might be nice too :)
My hairdresser, I went down with long hair, showed him a picture and he said awesome. He's great, has suggested different things to do with it and stuff. :)
