im atheist, i dont believe in any sort of higher power or an after life.
Totally agree with you.

I believe that religion is bullshit! No hard feelings though :)
Self practicing Christian... that means i really dont like "church"
I'm a Shi'a Muslim, or Shiite Muslim. We believe in the almighty power of a higher being, Allah, but we also believe that only Mohammad's, peace be upon him and his family, son is the rightful heir has head Imam after his death. An Imam is a priest in our religion, but also a social head.
I do pray, thought not the required 5 times a day, I don't really eat red meat, especially pork, but I do have bacon on occasion. I touch my dog, and all dogs for that matter, and I have pre-marital sex. I'm not hardcore Muslim, but I do wear an abaya (dress) and hijab (head covering, not face) when I go to Mosque for Ramadan. I fast during the month of September to clense myself of sins. I wash myself ceremonially before I pray, and after I get my period.
When people insult my religion I get pissed and I fight with them. I've done it with my family, my boyfriends family, and some of my friends. I even lost friends when I converted.
I am for gay marriage, which my religion is against, I am pro-choice, which my religion has no standing on, and I don't believe in multiple wives, which is possible.
A common misconception is that Muslim women are seen as lower than men, but that is not true. The only reason we are covered is to keep us safe from the lustful eyes of men. What would you do with a very valuable jewel? You'd keep it hidden for safe keeping. That's all it is. Islam is the only religion where men and women are considered equal in the eyes of our god. Men and women are both mentioned equally in the Qur'an. It does not just say, the son of Allah, it says the son and daughter of Allah.

I don't care what people think of me for my religion, it's my choice to believe. I know what is Haram and what is Halal, and that's that.
wow i did not know this thank you and i am being honest
they way I approach existentence is pretty much empiricism and existentialism. god is kind of like government to me, they only exist because people perpetuate them, and the only things that truly exist are things that can be proven.. I would have no problem with religion or government if i felt they didnt affect me unwillingly, but inevitably they do. I'm big on John Locke and the social contract, and I think people should be given an actual contract to decide whther they want to sacrifice their freedoms for security. That isn't exactly what locke was going for, but its basically an extension of his basic ideas.
Oh my God you who John Locke is!!!! FREAKING AWESOME!!! i like Locke, Hobbes, and Rousseau. i kinda borrow ideals from all three. Locke's theory of social contract, Hobbes theories about government and revolution, and Rousseau's theory that society corrupts. good stuff!
haha anyone who doensn't know who john locke is needs to go back to their high school government and history classes. at least back at the start of the country SOMEONE knew what the right way to run a country would be.
you'd be suprised at some of the people i go to college with lol
souds like you are big on philosophers anyone read the age of reason
i am not religious
I also believe in LeVey's views on Satanism, infact I live by the Nine Satanic Statements and the Church of Satan.

1. Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence
2. Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams
3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit
4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates
5. Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek
6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires
7. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his “divine spiritual and intellectual development,” has become the most vicious animal of all
8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification
9. Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as he has kept it in business all these years

I discovered LaVey when I was young and thought 'well, that's how I feel about the world'. It made sense, people think I practise it because of the way I look, they don't believe that Satanism came before my aestetics.

I was born into a non-orthodox Jewish family, but no-one in my family seems to practise it as much as they used to. We still celerate Hannukah and Pass-Over but we also have Christmas and Easter, even though we don't believe in Jesus, we like the chocolate. I still declare my Jewish-ness (Judaism, before you correct me anyone) but it doesn't really mean anything to me unlike Satanism. Where I live being called a Jew is still an insult, but it's fazed out since me and a couple of others actually stood up in class and stormed out whilst telling them that they are not better than Hitler. Unfortanatly we also have a neo-Nazi in one of my classes, I could see myself hitting him soon, he makes George Bush look clever! (sorry if you like Bush....hahahaha) He needs to show a little more tolerence to people.

My religion has combined strangely, I love Hannukah and Christmas, but I also love Samhian (Halloween), influences of Wicca and Pagan sometimes creep in from my Mum, she's a practising Wiccan and doesn't believe in God but believes in Jesus *strange*. And we had a big party last night to celebrate it, we can really let ourselves free. My step-dad is Christian and doesn't like any books, candles or paraphenlia on show.

I'm proud of my religions, they help shape me as a person. Even if it means that I am two people, I'm Jewish for my family and with them, but a self-declared Satanist when I'm not. I'm still on my path of self-discovery and it may turn out that I'll drop one for good, I don't 'feel' anything when I pray to God, luckily I only go to a Synagogue once a month, if that. Satan makes me feel special and that I'm worthy and equal in this world, not a slave to any one god but only to my own limitations in my mind, I will be free and no-one can hinder that, they'll live to regret it.
