need help doing hardcore punk vocals

i've been trying to do punk vocals for some time now and every time i do them thay end up sounding like metal vocals

idk about punk vocals but i can cover randy's vocals from lamb of god, but then again im a more thrash, death metal person

Thats actually a very good question! I know what sound your going for, something like this? You have to basically be yelling! If you've never sang with a band before, the sensitivity on a microphone is about as sensitive as a pirates peg leg. So somebody without a well-tuned singing voice is inevitably going to sound like this.

I was talking to the singer of the band Goldblade (prior to Steve Ignorant going on stage and after Goldblade played), we managed to shift the conversation into singing (I managed to wander into the microphone and become the bands vocalist). He basically said that punk rock has no expectations because it has nothing to do with talent. Interpret that however you want.
