My family was alright - everyone pretty much takes their cue from my mum and it was her that first cut my 'hawk. My workmates know, they ask me what colour it's been this weekend as when I work it's always down and blonde.
The reactions I have gotten have been pretty positive. Sometimes I get the odd person who stares and laughs, but most people come up to me and ask me about my hair, how do I get it to stand up etc....Now I am trying to get pregnant it isn't as eye catching (lack of dye), but I still get good responses.

and even if they didnt like it i dont give a fuck cus i LOVE it.

It's now purple and I've shaved the sides down to the bare skin again, which is causing my wee sister to keep rubbing my head as though it's Buddha's belly or something!
Lots of people want to touch it when it's freshly shaved and properly standing. Sometimes the boys think I'm awesome for being the chick with the cool hair, sometimes they really want to know if I'm a lesbian(because a septum piercing and a mohawk is Making! A! Statement! Of! Sexuality!) even if I glare at them and point out the Mohawk is an awesome haircut not a lesbian stamp. I don't mind if they think I'm a lesbian, I just get irritated they seem to think only lesbianhood could free me to make alternate hairstyle choices.
I usually get really positive responses if people are commenting.
actually people seem to respect me more, its really wierd because i thought id loose respect, but alot of people actually say i have balls cuz they NEVER do half the shit i do so its pretty great =]
I've gotten quite a few compliment, and some people tell me that they hate mohawks but I wear it well concidering, I get little kids screamin to their parents that the want the same hair as me. as far as negative, people that i dont know come and touch my head, and not just touch, they like attack my hair. I lost a few of my good friends due to it, but it was nothing I didnt expect. But all in all its fantastic and the reactions make me laugh sometimes..
i get quite a lot of people who stare at me and call me a guy, despire the fact that i am very much all woman, i'm also called a lesbian alot, i'm not and i don't mind but sometimes i just want to do my hair the way i want and not get abused for it.
i love my hawk, i'm the only person in my whole college who has one :)
my teachers used to call me a peacock...which pissed me off haha i prefer to think of it as a cockatoo lol cute widdle burds, and ya pple who didnt like me called me a dyke and all my friends said it was awsome and i had balls and such....old ladys seem especially accepting to it hahha
When I got my mohawk I was the first female in my college with one. This year lots of people have mohawks that I knew last year. They say its not because of me but I know it is. A lot of people told me I had mad balls because not many girls like me would shave their heads. I have gotten very few bad comments about my choice and a few dirty looks from older women. Most everyone is surprised and loves it. People tell me I have the perfect face to have a mohawk or shaved head. I used to put it up with jello and one girl I met was amazed and asked to lick my head. I let her.
