police brutality
well we went protesting today, loudly, but peacefull, the media has twisted it all saying we were carrying offensive weapons, and went into the bank to rob it. however,we were sat outside and the coppers just started dragging us around so when we decided to help our fallen comrades :) they hit us with the batons. one girl had to got to a&e for concussion, most of us got hit.
what i wanna know is what are your thoughts about this.
most people say it was just their job. BUT we didnt assault them in anyway (except for the usual ACAB chants :)

could we....? Unless your a real anarchist..I don't think so. You like feeling safe, you like the fact that you don't have to get off your ass, carry a gun and have to kill to have peace. This is the alternative to having no police! So careful for what you ask for!
ps I don't believe police have the right to be brutal fucks, but they do play a role....its when they're assholes AND mis-used by politicians to repress human rights that I have issue wt them too!

I'm not fond of police at all but protesters can be a bunch of mindless douche bags too. At least half of every protest of late(here at least) that is true. Among any self respecting protester there is a retard who just wants to cause trouble and break stuff to add some excitement to their pissant life.
Also, in this day and age and with all the suicide bombings and the fact camera's are on the police and we're all waiting for them to make mistakes before coming down hard on them, the police are going to be stressed so im not surprised you got some rough treatment.

I've had a lot of ill treatment from police but i've met some decent cops so theres no way we can lump them all in together even if the vast majority are scum bags.

How organised was your protest? They're allowed to use necessary force to restrain anything that could become a threat to the public.
I learnt all about what cops are allowed to do while watching the London student protests with my Dad, an ex-cop.

And did you notice how many of these "protesters" were throwing things and smashing things up?
Its a perfect example of what the police and the general public have to put up with from youngsters and students, the protest is about rising school fee's n shit and because those youngsters kept labour in and therefore caused this huge debt and during the protest they vandalize shit and cause further cost to all tax payers.
90% of those "protesters" have no right to protest because they have no idea how the world works, the cost of their actions or the foresight and common sense to argue.

you can't lump in all cops and say that cops as a whole suck. I know that most of them go into the force genuinely looking to help people and uphold the law. the problem is that a couple years on the force and they start to see how much power they have being in that position. I've met some cps who hold true to defending the public part up until the day they die/retire and are genuinely amazing people who put their lives on the line every day, but I've also met some serious assholes who make it seem like you can never trust emergency response forces again. My cousin-- who is a cop-- told me that here, yes, cops actively profile people, punks included. S' a fucked up system but it's GOING TO BE when you give people a lethal weapon and tell them you're above the law to uphold it. You just get some fucked up people in there, and they ruin everybody's image.

ok So not all cops are bad. BUT when a peace officer is used as a political gambit, to repress human rights, then this is wrong. It is a democratic right to protest what you see as wrong, to gather in public assembly and denounce peacefully what you see is wrong wt the systems that you live within... All too often I'm seeing my friends(Non-Mohawks/non Indians) get their heads kicked in...and when they ask for help....all I can offer is this piece of advice... You have to communicate with the cops facing you. Otherwise, this shit continues to happen.
When we (MOHAWKS/Indians) protest, its all or nothing. We are backed into the corner already, there's no more we can afford to lose nor give up. The cops know it, the soldiers know it and the government knows it. When we take action, theres always the possibility for loss of life. Its been paid for in blood. We have the street cred. 2 prove it too! (IM NOT ADVOCATING VIOLENCE) I'm just telling the truth...google search: 1990 OKA CRISIS, IPPERWASH, GUSTAFSEN LAKE, PINERIDGE NORTH DAKOTA, ABORIGINAL DAY OF ACTION (Canada),and several other actions in North America .... Today we avoid cops beating us up and loss of life by telling the cops Where were peacefully protesting, how long we'll be there and why were doing it! We get our point across then go home. We don't vandalize, torch, or hurt innocent peeps for no reason, we make our point and leave. COMMUNICATION is key...

Their gang is bigger and stronger in all ways than yours, you'll get totally ass invaded. The smart thing to do is give police no reason to arrest you and smile and act like they're not bothering you at all and if you have to complain then do it in a smart way and avoid all insults or curse words. That'll piss them off more than anything.
Fighting with words or actions will do little but get you locked up, jail time, hurt and fined.
