Mohawks Rock

What do you guys use to pierce the leather so you can put the studs in easily. Because piercing the leather with the stud isnt working to well for me.

I got one of these
http://studsandspikes.com/buy/dual-blade-awl.html?osCsid=8216b63dac...

The blades where dull when I got em, but I work as a metal scrapper, so I have to tools to sharpen em
before this I used a dart, but with the awl I managed to stud the back of my jacket in just under 3 hours

that little tool would be handy. right now i've found a hammer and nail are working pretty well.
that could work, but arent the nails leaving too big of holes, or does it not really seem to matter?
i used a small nail that was really pointy. But i could see a larger nail not working very well.
I just use a knife or a pocket knife   always killer on my fingers though.
taking em out is easier
the thing i use is for my leather jacket is a hammer and a screwdriver with a flat tip, works like a charm, didnt pay any money for it
