Mohawks Rock

I know you guys are like "oh this guys a poser look at him asking what punk is" Yea I have an idea of what it is but I'm new so just help me out. My question is what makes a poser? I glare at people from time to time but I just like to. I'm an asshole but i've always been like that. I just recently had to cut off the hawk because of school. I don't think I'm a poser but people always try to say I am or I try to hard because I'll throw an Anarchy A on my school bag or something. So tell me what makes a poser?

look how you want fuck the mainstream mannnn!
as long as u believe in what u represent u will never be a poser.

its all about the mindset and if they were a real punker they would know not to judge by looks but the soul and actions of that person.

dude just do what ya like, thats what its all about. like ive always hung out with whoever , usually the dramma kids and nerds(fav)
Why in the fuck is this still getting replies. Obviously I was some little whiny bitch then. I'm punk I'm not a poser shove this post sideways Gracias.
Well bumping it isn't going to help that. >D
"COME ON YOU GUYS I'M SUPER COOL NOW! THAT WAS LIKE WEEKS AGO! NOW I'M SUPER HARDCORE TO MAX TIMES LIKE 4!"
You sir, are a poser. ;)

If you like punk bands for their message as much as their music then you've got punk in you.

If you see the world as it is and mourn for how it should be then you've got punk in you.

If you live how you want to live, dress how you want to dress and don't give a flying fuck then you've got punk in you.

The mohican might be symbolic in some ways, but mostly it's just hair.  It doesn't make a punk.

listen to bands go to gigs see watch learn do

if u dont like it fuck off

if u do ppl will probs still tell u to fuck off

punks will tell u what they think

and they dont care

they aint bout makin friends n bein the best punk or what ever

they are about living

doin as they please

using their intellegence to do stuff like i dont beat the shit out of my mates because i no that if i do that they wont talk to me

but on a much higher and more complex level

just live do what u want

thats all punk is

to be free as u please and to enjoy existence

how ever you see fit

xxx good luck and welcome

If you have to ask, especially random strangers, that's a pretty good sign you aren't athentic.

there's a saying my friends use...If you say "Back when I was still a punk......" you never were a punk.   I'm in my 30s. I wear a suit to work everyday.  I'm polite to strangers as long as they act in kind or at least act indifferent.   When did what is on, or what kind of, bag you carry determine anything other than you need something to carry things in????

I'll assume you are young since you mentioned school and say you are new.   Ever seen SLC punk, the movie?  Remember Mike?  He didn't have "the look", but that really isn't what it is all about.

Now, before you totally slag me off as buying in to the system....While I have to wear a suit (and wig or scarf to hide my hair!) to work, and I wasn't a slacker in school (good grades = college scholarship), I am doing something that none of my school chums did...I fight the government every.single.day. on behalf of the little guy.  I do tax work....I really thought fighting the system would have a lot more explosives when I was a kid, but it turns out it is just a lot of complicated forms and hoops to jump thru.      I didn't care when I was in school what people said about me (the preppy kids wouldn't hang out with me cause I looked like the druggie slacker drop outs, teh druggie slacker drop outs wouldnt' hang out with me because I got good grades and was in the upper level classes with the preppy church going rodeo lovin kids..small mississippi highschool...we just didnt' have that much social stratifcation).    Stop worrying about what people call you.  they are either jealous or so narrow minded they only know to attack that which is different from them.      It isn't about how you look...it is about your mindset and how you conduct yourself.

I don't get why it is fashionable to be "an asshole".  It is extremely easy to go thru life oblivious to others.  It takes much more effort to use common courtesy.  Additionally, no one ever suspects the polite, good grade getting smart kid.  I got away with sooooo much in school because the powers that be never even considered someone "like me" would pull the fire alarm while the fancy people from the state board were visiting, "close-caption" the daily school news cast, wipe the hard drive the principal stores his stock speeches on........etc etc etc.   It is such a cliche to be the asshole punk.  I kinda like that old ladies look totally shocked when someone that looks like me (outside of work) is nice.  To me, part of the allure of punk was the concept of breaking the stereo types...I work in a traditionaly male field, too.  No one is shocked by when the guy in the leather jacket with all the studs is a jerk.....but they tend to stand around completely slack jawed when it is discovered he's actually confident enough to say please and thank (and ma'am and no ma'am/sir here in the south)

I tend to only use the term poser when I've run out of other things to say.  I can not stand to see people doodle an A with a circle around it and then not be able to tell me their personal reactions and thoughts to Proudhon.  I can not fathom how someone would wear a symbol with out investigations into the orgins of the symbol.  I am far from a socialist (I agree with bakunin (sp) that marxist ideas just replace one authority with another), but I do agree with Marx's reasons for un-alligning with proudhon.  Although I agree with SOME of the ideas Proudhon put forth orginally, over time I came to not really like him, but that maybe because once I learned about Proudhon, I found Dejacque and I found his theories were closer to what I already felt but hadnt' found wording for yet in my late teens.

so, if you are drawing that A with a circle and the last paragraph didnt' make any sense to you with out the use of google or wikipedia, then that's not so much poser...more like lazily following the rest of the flock.  Decide if you really agree with the over all theory before you draw the symbol.  Over time I learned that while I adore the THEORY of anarchy, it, like many other great theories, do not work in actual practice....the human animal, especially in masse, has not evolved enough to live without rules and laws set forth for the common good.  I also do not like the common socialist leanings of most anarchist views.  At best, I'm an anarcho-capitalist...I own my own business and just don't feel like most of the more social anarchist views fit with what I feel is true indivdual liberty...I should be able to do whatever I want in my business and pay my employees what I think they are worth...however, in practice this would never work....I do not pay anyone min. wage because I believe min wage = min work....so I always pay more because my employees are very valuable to me..I resent the government telling me what I should pay my people....But due to the human condition, there will always be some jerk who wants to pay everyone BELOW min wage and keep more profit for himself...so I have to accept the government getting all up in my kool aid and telling me what the min I can pay some one is.......It is an intangible and some what complicated concept...I have spent more time learning about it from an economic (and some what social) point of view.....just know if you are sporting ANY symbol, it is good to really understand that (which is why I get so tickled when I see modern western women my age wearing a cross....Like are they ok with what is says in 1st Tim, ch. 2, vs 11-12?????? Really???? no way...that sort of thinking leads directly to Exodus 21:7-11  and I am not ok with being sold as a sex slave, even if "God" says it is ok.....yet over and over, I see strong out spoken women wearing those crosses as they yell at their husbands...guess they dont have to read anything if they have some magic symbol.)

punk is like building a go kart outta shit laying around in a shed or garage. a poser is buyng a go kart, brand new, and having no idea how to drive it.
