Mohawks Rock

Re-bleaching and dying my hawk blue, question about bleach and dye

I had a friend help me (so I didn't get it all over my scalp) with bleaching and dying my hair blue with Splat. The bleach job somehow faded back to almost my natural brown (WTF?) and the blue faded out for the most part as well, after 2-3 weeks.

So, not using that product again. But, I do have some manic panic, so I'm going to use that for the blue. Only thing is, I need to buy some bleach that works. And is really cheap, because I don't have a job right now (full time student) so I don't have a lot of cash to spend on hair products.

I found http://www.sallybeauty.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-SA-Site/defaul...
when searching for bleaching products that have high reviews from people who've dyed their brown haired mohawks bright, vibrant colors, and the reviews on the site seem ok.
Has anyone here used this product, or know of any that I can get online cheap that works really well? I don't have time to do 2 applications before dying, because I want to have my hawk in all its blue glory for Mayhem fest friday.

Thanks for the advice.

what you posted isnt bleach, its developer. buy a packet or two of powdered bleach (quick blue would be a good brand for your brown hair it should help keep it from turning orangey) you mix the powdered bleach with developer to activate it. bleach developer comes in 20, 30, and 40 volume. the numbers indicate the strength of the developer, 40 vol. will give you the whitest bleach 30 is a little weaker and so on. if you have highly damaged hair i dont recommend using the 40 vol developer as it does the most damage. if you do choose to use it pick up some hair placenta and hot oil treatments while your at the beauty supply store (which is a good idea after bleaching anyway).

2 packets of powdered bleach, a bottle of developer, and hot oil/hair placenta should only cost you around $10, ive always found it to be the cheapest way to go.
Thanks for the quick reply! I will make rounds to beauty supply stores in the area and see what I can find.
Oh, and my hair is nice and healthy, plenty moist enough, so that's not an issue.
even if its healthy now, chances are it wont be after you finish bleaching so make sure to take good care of it! deep conditioner will be your best friend, you can make your own hair masks out of food around the house since your tight on cash and hot oil treatments and hair placenta are cheap at beauty supply stores.
Yeah, I'm just saying the 40 shouldn't be too much, thanks again for the advice. Out of the two treatments, which would be better for my hair then?
both would be good, if you can only afford one id go for the hot oil..i usually find them for under a dollar. you can make your own hair masks out of things around the house like avocado, mayo, olive oil, butter, eggs. mix it well and nuke it for a few seconds so its a little warm. work it through your hair and put a plastic bag over it and let it sit for around a half hour then wash out.
One last question, because by the looks of your photo you know a thing or two about color, does Manic Panic tend to stay in long, or does it wash out lamely fast? Last dye I used, Splat, only lasted one week before it was mostly faded, 2 weeks until I was back to square one. And tips for getting dye to last longer? I've heard apply heat when it's in, soak your hair in apple cider vinegar, etc.
ive only used one shade of blue by manic panic, midnight blue, which i actually have in right now.. its a pretty nice color (for being dark) and so far its lasting long but i have never in my life used a dye that stained so bad.. its been weeks since i dyed it and still when i shower it turns my entire tub blue and stains my back..the first few times i rinsed the color it stained the entire back of my body. everytime i shower i have to scrub the entire tub with bleach and comet.. its a nightmare..not really worth it.

my favorite blue is punky colors- turquoise. its beautiful and lasts a few months for me, the dye smells great and leaves your hair feeling great. i highly recommend it! a lot of people use heat, ive never bothered with it.. you can add a bit of your dye to your conditioner, i havent gotten around to trying that one but ive heard it works well. i usually just dont wash my hair unless i need to and dont rinse the dye out completely at first, just enough so its not slimey or anything.
Yeah, I only really wash my hair depending on my mohawk schedule. I can keep it up for 3-4 days before my head itches, so I wash my hair usually 2-3 times a week. If it's down, I don't wash it until I'm ready to put it back up, 2-3 days later.

midnight blue is what I'm going to use, thanks for the warning. Splat dyed everything pretty bad too, but when the blue was still in my hawk, it was sooo worth it.

Quick Blue with 40 developer and then use RAW if you can or Special Effects.

With Quick Blue and 40 developer it will strip everything from the hair.
