About children...

If you guys want/have children how would/do you raise them? Do you raise them on children's shows and cartoons, or do you let them watch action or horror movies?

Personally I was raised on horror movies and metal. My husband are trying to have kids and I plan on raising our kids in much the same way, except on punk not metal (even though I do like me some metal, but they'll mostly be hearing punk as that's mostly what my husband and I listen to).... and I won't have them around any illegal drugs.

So what's your take?

ok so i know this post is from a year ago, but i had to say something. i used to feel the same way about parents who let their kids freak out in public, run around and scream at the top of their lungs. that is untill my 3 year old got to be about 1.5 to 2 years old. she is autistic, and will literally scream at the top of her lungs for a few hours at times, and only stops to catch her breath. she doesn't care if we are home, in the car, in a store, or wherever. she will hit, kick, throw her self around, scream, and just act like hell on wheels. there is nothing we can do about it though because it's not how we are treating her or how she is being raised, it is because of her autisim. we have her in speech therapy, and special ed pre-school, and that has helped a lot, because a lot of her "fits" were because she couldn't talk, and now she can talk a lot better, but it is still hard for her, and hard for most people who don't understand what she is saying. so now i look at other kids and wonder if they are like mine, they could be autistic or something, and there is nothing that the parents can do about it.

my ex has a girl who just turned 3 a couple months ago. she lets me baby sit her every once in a while and even though she's not my girl i watch shitty disney movies with her. i hate em but its nice to know she has a good time watching bambi and stuff like that :) i dont watch any scary movies when shes around but i do listen to some megadeth when shes around.. she seems not to mind it lol. as for drugs i quit a while ago and even if i start to use again id never do em around her. even though shes not mine i love that girl too much to expose her to that shit.
