Mohawks And Dating (or perhaps "The Mohawk Mating Call")

Hey gang!

Just wondering people's experiences or thoughts as they relate to mohawks and dating/relationships... Some possible questions to mull over for this thread:

* If you're dating someone, do they have a mohawk as well? What do they think of yours? Was a mohawk at all influential in meeting the person you are with?
* If you're single, do you find a mohawk to be something very attractive in others? If you're rocking a 'hawk now, is it something you'd hope someone else would find extremely attractive about YOU?
* Any fun or interesting experiences you've had regarding dating and mohawks?

--------------------------
As for my own replies to the above, I'm currently single and currently rocking a ~7" fan which I'm hoping to keep growing out. I have to admit that (on the right person) I find a mohawk amazingly damn sexy, and it's definitely something I'd be likely to go up to said person and start a conversation about to break the ice.

Besides simply enjoying the fun that is rocking my own hawk, I admit that I hope it's something someone else would find attractive about me - or at very least something visually unique that singles me out as someone interesting. (Makes it harder to get lost in the crowd as it were, and also tends to help filter out the judgmental idiots you'd not want to talk to anyway, let alone ever consider hitting on!)

Personally, I think that while the criteria you date someone on should surely be a lot deeper than simple outward appearances, I think there's nothing wrong with a screaming uniqueness to help attract the attention of other cool, open-minded people! :D

Its how ive met most of the girls ive dated....I look at it like this, you don't like the hair you wont like me...
Agreed.
Me and my boyfriend both have mohawks, we dye eachothers hair, and shave eachothers heads. Personally, i wouldnt want it any other way, seeing as we both know how it is, and know what the other likes. We experiment frequently, and love it.
This would be us last summer, my roots are pretty much half and half haha

hm. a mohawk is not a good dickhead-filter. i've met alot of dickheads with mohawks.
you really miss out on some excellent people if you only go for the obvious, like everyone pretty much does. lets say i know 10 really really lovely guys and girls, only two of them have hawks. most of my friends look pretty normal, but that doesn't mean we don't think the same, in fact we also have (pretty much) the same taste in music. and i love them!
i remember walking in to a local squat with one of these friends, and some mohawked shithead told her to get the hell out because she looked too normal. she's not the first.

i gave up the hawk because i got sick of dying it and putting it up. besides, there are alot of genious hairstyles out there. mohawks aren't necessarily the only punk hairstyle there is.
i live in an area that has nothing but rich snobs and the occasional ok person. fuck i wish i lived somewhere else
me too, but i get along. there some alright snobs at my school(they're okay as long as you keep the conversations completely shallow, like talking about the weather or something). Once I actually met an anarchist snob, he was awesome! even though i'm not an anarchist myself.

why don't you move then?
There is this one guy that is at my school and he has the most attractive mohawk ever! I love it every time i see him. I dont know his name so i named him mohawk man. But then there is this guy who was kinda stalking me and he just got a mohawk, which made me go boo!! He doesnt deserve to have a mohawk, he isnt good enough for them
heh 'Mohawk man', always fun when you have a crush on someone like that, makes it kinda special talking to friends about them, in the absence of a proper name for them! heh heh

Not so good about the other guy you don't like who has a mohawk now, if he's becoming a nusiance. I had a valentines card from a girl once - given to me by my mate - I'd never seen her and she'd just seen me from outside as the bus took on passengers from his stop. Kinda unnerving to get a card from someone I'd never seen and knew I wouldn't be interested in. Luckily, it never went any further.

Still, now, I've got over the whole paranoia stage when someone fancies me, that I don't - providing I act normal with them and remain calm and reasonable I've not had any problems. I think it's when you start avoiding someone or acting skittish around them that that causes more problems.
hahaha Mo' man dresses like Rainbow Brite and acts like a jock douche, but I admit he's not bad looking, although its all about the hawk. (by the way, I know Lindsay, I'm not a creeper)
I am currently single with I assume a 6" fan, which I plan to grow for as long as I can. I have never dated anyone with a mohawk. I personally love mohawks on either man or woman and would love to date a person with one but it's not a style that the person has to have. I believe that a relationship should be based off of the person's personality but a mohawk wouldn't hurt, it would be a definite plus. If a person doesn't like my hawk and it would be a big issue then bye, I am NOT cutting it off for anyone.
I think it's a very love/puzzled/hate thing =) Seems like some people really are attracted to it, others have no idea and just wonder about it and others, well, actually I can't think of anyone who really hates mohawks, more the reasons are to do with trying to protect someone they care for, I guess in my experience.
dude i totally agree with you all on counts, having a mohawk does certaintly weed out all the closed minded bafoons that you wouldnt want to date if you knew they were. my past two girlfriends were huge metalheads and i poked at the point that i may have wanted a mohawk and they said they would break up with me if i got one. Me being caring never got one until i was single a month ago, about two weeks before that i did meet a girl and we werent dating but we both liked each other, i told her i was going to get a mohawk and she was really okay with it, and she absolutly loves it. And as for chicks rocking mohawks, nothing could be hotter, i really havent met any chicks in person with mohawks since i live in a really fucking conservative city and everything, but brody dalle from the distillers is the hottest chick ever with a mohawk. I also love going to the mall and getting everybodys reaction to my mohawk.

and now that i have my mohawk, i will not give it up for any girl lol.
