Mohawks Rock

I've noticed that alot of people think that fauxhawks (short hair swooshed up towards the middle) and fake mohawks (people with perfectly normal hair, just 'mohawked' in the middle) consider themselves to have real mohawks.
I've always considered mohawks to be hair shaved, bald, or extremely short on both sides, with a longer strip in the middle-or Chelsea hawks(same, just with bangs and fringe on the sides).

Does this annoy the piss out of anyone else?

That bottom one must be fuckin HARDCORE!!!
No. Cause I know the differences haha. My hair comes and goes in stages and I always worked with what I had...

^Obviously not a mohawk, never said it was lol. Most peope around here don't think that is a mohawk either (god forbid the navy boys do). Couldn't do much else at that length haha.

^^^ chelsea hawk, excessive growth on sides from not shaving it during last winter. Sides were like an inch and a half or two inches, haha.

You also have to consider that a mohawk (to most people) is classified by that strip of hair standing up. What you do with the sides is personal preference. Some girls on here had mohawks, let the sides grow in a bit (to look more "normal" down) and just braid it or whatever. Not all of them did, some just kept it all the same length. It's a very versatile option :-\
As far as calling it the right thing... sometimes it will bug me, but if it's a little kid or whatever, not as much. I just hate the attitude that they suddenly adopt with it. They aren't badass. hahahaha

I consider the faux hawk and the girl stuff "stepping stones". Not all people are comfortable with shaving it all off until they know they would be happy with it for a while, and I don't blame them.

haha they just aren't fun like us!!! ;-)
I can't believe that top one's you.
I don't really hate them...it just bugs me when people with fauxhawks think they're the shit because of it. But then, I'm bugged by anybody who thinks they're the shit.
Plus, I just don't really like the look of them, unless something is done to the side hair to make it lie against the skull. If it's just hanging there, the whole haircut kind of loses its definition and "edge" I guess...I don't know.
That is obnoxious. Haha

I get kids coming into my stores who do just that. *death stare*
And it's always at the most inappropriate times.
When I see people with them I always have the urge to shave off their sides so they can have an actual mohawk.

You and I, chloroform and a razor=a night on the town.

Conquer the fauxhawks!
I hate fake mohawks.
I feel like they're in the same category as those nylon shirts with tattoo designs on them to make it look like the wearer has a full sleeve of tattoos. It's just a cop out!

For certain occasions, braiding up the sides of hair doesn't bother me so much. I still think it looks fucking STUPID, but I understand people's desire for a special occasion mohawk for one time only events.

But for those of you who just pigtail the sides, or leave them long, and who regularly pretend like you have a mohawk, and engage in mohican activities...I know who you are...and I don't respect you.
Who cares
I used to care, but I stopped. I don't have the energy or the time to get worked up about fauxhawks. Yeah I think they look crap, but I look past it now.

Although I did notice that ever since I shaved the sides of my head and put my spikes up, no one I work with has ever put up their fauxhawk again.
Even the new guy that started 2 weeks ago. He had his hair in a faux hawk. Now he's had a hair cut and won't push the hair up in the middle.
The only thing that makes me angry is when "preps" have fauxhawks and shit and think they are cool.
grow some balls and be different than all your clone buddies and actually shave it.
well, i've got to say, i have no problem with fauxhaws.... but like Pez said, as long as they don't think they're the shit because of it. i have a friend who has a fauxhawk, and it looks great on her. and she isn't doing it because she wanted a mohawk but didnt wanna shave the sides or anything. she just likes how it looks (and so do i, on her at least) so she did
it. whatever, it's her hair.

i hate it when people bug me about "hating" my hair because its "different". so why should we sit around and hate on other poeple's hair.

unless they're the ones bugging us about it hahah.
