Do you veiw them as a sad goodbye, or a fond (sp?) goodbye.

personally, when someone dies, i veiw it as not being such a bad thing. sure i'll miss them, but when i die, i wont want people being sad... instead i want them to be happy for the life i lived... not the one i lost. hell i want them to look back and say, he was a good guy, an asshole sometimes, but a damn good guy.

btw, recently my bestfriends little sis died, and this is a poem i worte for him to read at the funeral:
THE LITTLE PRINCESS!

a little girl walks up to her mom and asks, "mom what happens when we die?"

the mom replys, "well some people think you go to heaven, so think nothing happens, but as for you... you'll get to be a princess in your very own castle"

the little girl coughs, smiles, and walks away

the next day the little girl goes to her mom and says, "mommy, what will happen when I die?"

the mom replys, "well, we'll cry and then remember that you are a princess in your very own castle"

the little girl coughs, smiles and walks away

on the thrid day the little girl walks up to her mom and says, "mommy, why are you crying?"

her mom doesn't reply, and instead she walks away and gets into her car

the little girl tries to chase after her but cant run fast enough

then a hand grabs her shoulder and a voice says, "come on princess, it's time to address your audiance"

I'd like my funeral to be a happy day, and there should be live bands etc.....
yeah, I agree with you, but that just doesn't happen... Last summer a good friend of mine died, and one guy from our school made a requien for him... Just... ehh... ;/
well im irish, so if someone dies its usually seen as a sad day, but then a huge party after to remembered all the good times, its a really fun time with lots of memories of the person being shared.

im just hoping people are happy about the fun days when i die, and get completely smashed lol.
i know what'cha meen, my whole family's very irish so we have the traditional irish wakes as well
I think of it as way more for the survivors than the departed. Personally I don't give a rat's ass about that part of the grieving process. Not sure if I want a funeral, that would be cool to have a kickass black metal band at mine, though.
I know this might sound foolish, but I want my head shrunken when I die. I want the day to be happy but on the weirder side!
I think that funerals should be sad because they're final goodbyes. But the last one I went to a big resturaunt and had fun its all about remembering good things, the funeral will be sad, but afterward it should be good, its a way of life
