I go back and forth a lot. For a few months I'll have one and then I won't.
But I've also found a lot of other things to do with my hair in the mean time, so, I don't mind growing my hair out and looking funky for a few weeks. It grows wicked fast.
(And commuting a lot during the day, I wear sunglasses, so I have a place on my head to keep them when I'm not driving!)
There are some girls who shouldn't stray from the chelsea (especially if you go by the shape of their face, etc), but for the most part, it can go either way!
Buzzed Haircuts for Women
From LoveToKnow Hair
Buzzed haircuts for women are a great option if you want to make a statement, are undergoing medical treatment and want to deal with hair loss on your own terms, or just want plain change.
Feeling courageous? Get buzzed!
Britney Spears did it, Sinead O'Connor rebelled, and Natalie Portman proved to women all over the world that buzzed haircuts for women can be beautiful.
Buzzed Haircuts for Women: The Trend
Often women shave their head for a fashion statement. Tired of a bad hair days or the daily struggles of fitting in with a certain hair type or hair color, women take the clippers and go to town, all while feeling completely liberated and free from society's demands.
Although many have witnessed train wreck buzz cuts, where gals have lost control and took the rage out on their hair, there have been many women who have worn a fashionable buzzed look for a purely unique fashion statement.

i think girls can pull off 'boy' mohawks, but you have to have a certain face, and look very feminine. i myself couldn't pull off one, because i need a bit of 'girly hair' to look like a girl
I know im late to reply, but i just read this post...and 1 i wasnt aware there were "girl" and "boy" hawks :p BUT ive always had a "boy" hawk and i think i workit very nicely, lol. Ive never really considered getting a chelsea...idk why but yeah some girls cant pull it off...just the shape of there face i guess..but give it a try!!
Most Deffinatly! Im tempted to do it all the time.

oh course girls can pull of boy hawks!!! :)
a mohawk is a mohawk is a mohawk and they all look bitchin' :)
its alot bigger deal for girls to have a mohawk than it is for guys, so chelseas and bangs help soften the look but any girl who has the balls to pull off a mohawk (chelseas or no chelseas) is ok with me :)
<3.
What exactly are we calling "boy" 'hawks"? Clean shaven sides and no hair other than in the central aisle? I don't really think there are "girl" 'hawks or "boy" 'hawks. Why should it matter if you have a dick or not what 'hawk style you think is better for you? Personally, I like having my sides buzzed and not shaved, my hair grows WAY too fast to keep shaving it clean, and I love the buzzed feeling (also easier to hid the 'hawk if I don't dye my hair). I also like having bangs now for some reason.
I think both have very lovely qualities to them, it just depends on the person's unique style.
Personally, I kept side locks to give my hawk a more feminine look, but have debated over the bangs on so many numerous occasions it's ridiculous.
