Mohawks Rock

so ive been doing a liberty spike mohawk for a few days now and im contemplating cutting the sides short, but i dont know how wide to leave the middle. ive been putting up the center two inches (about) and it seems fine that way, but i didnt know what other people did. for the record i have really thick wavy hair and im planning on cutting my hair so it will be about 5 inches when up

That's all a matter of taste really, but 2 inches sounds just fine :) You'll have a nice, thick hawk, and less risk of getting huge gaps in it (which I absolutely hate). Go for it!
Imo, average width of a Mohawk should be around 1.5-2". But it depends on the size of your Hawk too. Of course, longer Mohawk with a wider base will be easier to maintain, than having a really thin strip.
But what you should probably do is, just shave it really wide. You can always adjust the width of it. My base used to be 3", when I first got it, now after 1 year I finally found "my" width, which is about 1.5".
Most people use their eyebrows as a good guide, but I've seen some awesome girl hawks that are fairly wide that start towards the middle of their eye / eyebrow.

Myself, I'm partial to that wider hawk, but always seem to forget that when I'm trimming my hair, haha. Mine starts around the inside of corners of my eyes / eyebrows.
thanks! im doing it friday! i think ill stick with 2 inches for right now and then see if i want to change it later ^.^
Yeah!! Sweet!!!

Just remember what Ballisto said: to cut it wider first and then cut it down. It's not that easy to put the hair back on...lol
lol true... but at least it grows out!
Most hairdressers go from the centre of each eye (basically your pupil) and make that the width as its proportional to your face. But its all personal preference.
