dont wash it as much
i have to cause i put it up everyday and wash it out at night ......cause of schoolll.....and dam people at school touch it plus i live in florida so it melts during the summer or if its humid which is like 97 percent of the time so i have to costantly wash it out and do it again
I also live in FL (near the bay) and people know not to touch my hair.I'm not mean or anything, but no one really seems to have the balls to do it. xD
Only a few friends touch it and that doesn't happen all that much.

Try to leave it up for 2-7 days. 4 days is usually a happy middle.

Ive heard that its good to leave the color in overnight (wear a shower cap while you sleep) or several hours. Ive never done the overnight thing, but I have left manic panic in for 5 hours and it came out pretty well. I washed it every other day and it lasts about a month with the darker colors for my untreated hair.
you dont have to use shampoo you know.............
Well, I used splat! for my blue and purple. I didn't exactly do my best to keep the color in, but it basically stayed pretty vibrant for about a week, then it just got more and more pitiful and ugly. I just bleached the crap out of it tonight and the purple faded to a pretty pink, like cupcake or something, and the blue bleached into a green. So now my mohawk is platinum blonde, cupcake pink, and green. It definitely looks interesting, lol. I'm gonna try Manic Panic in about a week or two. Possibly even Special Effects (who I hear stays in the longest with the best color. I'm gonna experiment with it, but that's just through the grapevine).
I also found the other stuff that I need to investigate, hoping someone's heard of it to tell me of it. Something like Beyond the Zone hair products has a hair dye, Color Jamz. The turquoise looked neat, but I still wanna know more about there quality first.

So far what I got for ya... bleach it! It's permanent, and vaguely neon! :D

PS - I've not heard anything on the Punky colors yet.
The most common colors are purple,green,red,pink!... lol I like blue n purle or pink the most.... Maybe mix your colors...If you google mohawks or something you can get a clue of what you want...Whats your favorite color?
O.O
umm i like neon green thats what i was having trouble with cause being that its neon it will loose its brightness in like a week
ive heard of people mixing it in with their shampoo/conditioner to make it last longer
bleach first. for dark hair go get kaleidocolors blue since you have dark hair (you'll need 20 volume creme developer too) or any bleach kit (manic panic flash lighting works pretty good. Dry hair completely! Then apply your dye and use heat. Using heat on the bleach step helps to lighten dark hair too, just becareful near the scalp or if you have the bleach on bare skin.

As far as neon bright, Special Effects have glow in blacklight hair dye. I've never used it, but it sounds awesome.
thanks man im probably gonna go with manic panic electric lizard and it glows and its insane awsome but thanks for the help people ...
I dye my hair once every month or so. I also process the dye with heat and my hair is super bleached out. haha
(I just saw alyssa's reply, clean DRY HAIR!!!!!!!!!! to dye on cannot be stressed enough - and that is embodied by the fact that i had someone try to color her hair purple, and it didn't turn out. Guess what? She was a blonde. So. Yes.)

My manager has bright red hair that she mixes two dyes for and does once every couple of weeks. She sleeps with her dye in, but I believe the color can be severely affected if you aren't careful.

I generally use special effects dye, rarely deviate from that. And I've invested in waterless shampoo - liquid and spray. It's nice =]
