Mohawks Rock

Hey everyone :3 First off I'm new here and my name is Gabe :] I decided to join after lurking for about a week haha. Anyways, I've got a few questions about having a mohawk. First off, I've been wanting one for about four years now but I've just never had the balls to cut one. I finally told my parents about the idea about a week ago when I found this site and they were appalled by it :/ lol. I've decided to get one anyways as after all it is my hair and I'm amazed enough that I've worked up the balls to decide to do so. So, I was planning on doing this myself tomarrow after I end school so It will be interesting to see how it comes out xD I might have to shave it all away and just grow it out from scratch. Anyways here are some quick questions I've got:

What do you guys ( and girls ofcourse ^^ whom still go to school) do during P.E class? Do you guys wear it up or down? I'm quite lazy during P.E so sweat wouldn't be much of an issue.

How do you guys survive the friggid weather without hats? :( I'm one of those people who abuse hats and wear them indoors and outdoors during all seasons xD Basically, do you use earmuffs or other kids of semi-warming gear? :3

And finally, could anyone share some advice on cutting a mohawk from long hair (Well, long for a guy) ? I've seen the "tape method" on youtube for guys with shorter hair but I was hoping to save some length.

Thanks beforehand and excuse my grammar mistakes ._.

edit* Thought of one more, haha :p How wide are your mohawks? I've got absolutely no clue on how wide I'm gonna cut it.

it's not worth it. i got mine becuase i knew i would hate it. therefor, i love it lol. when you say long hair, how long do you mean? mine is 10 inches tall, and this gets very annoying in the car, or in my low-cielinged basement. you either have to bend your head sideways, or let your hawk snap over. there probably is a better way of dealing with cars, but i haven't found one yet.i hate the extreem cold. so i stay inside alot anyway. i'm homeschooled so i don't have to worry about gym class (thank god) i should have cut my hawk skinnier, about 2 inches across would be perfect for me. unless you want spikes, those need more hair. i went to wal mart and paid the girl at the salon 5 buck to do it for me 'cuase i was paranoid heh heh.
Hah xD My hair is probably like,,, 4-5 inches in the front and 2-3 in the back. My side bangs are probably like 8-9inch though but unfortunately that's just gonna be wasted hair with this cut x3
shit. the only thing ive learned to do to help me feel better about my mohawk is not worry about it.

shit its raining, oh well
there is a gap, oh well
"imma smack your mohawk", oh well

point is its still a hawk and i dont let it get in the way of having a blasty cuz worrying about it is the worst.

good tip is to not let it ruin your day.
haha xD True :) However, I'm the kinda guy who gets anxiety over tiny little things so I can see myself in a near future also lamenting over those things :(
I had a long fringe and short hair at the back too, but kept the fringe, so pretty much just trim your hair when it's shaved and everything. I was lucky that when I got mine, compulsary PE/gym class, ended for me, but I do running and fencing regularly, and it's fine, apart from when I fence as my head over heats and sweats and messes up the hair, along with wearing a mask.

Anyways, good luck, once you've got one, you'll never look back!
Heh thanks :3 Im looking forward to it.
i had pe and wore it up without much problems. the only problem u come across is if u sweat then it messes the gel up or if u have weight training. for cold weather i usually just brave it unless its like -10 or something. my advice for length would be start short then grow it out so your hair gets use to it.
Dont do your own hair, Go to a barber.... my mohawk is 1 inch wide and 4inches long..... I do my own hair... Stand in front of a mirror, hold a hand mirror behind my head and use the clippers and reflection to guide me.Not many can do that. Its kind of easy for me since I have really bushy hair that stands up..

To be honest I've wanted a mohawk since I played streetfighter for super nintendo... Zangief! I just got mine a month ago..been growin my hair about six months:)
Grats :) I think I'll do fine though... I've kinda always cut my own hair so it would feel weird to go to a barber for this.
you will need mirrors and patience...
