That's quite a trip to go to Skye for a game of shinty!  Was it part of a championship series?

 

It'll be a lot better too no longer falling in a gap.  Yeah, I should be getting a new mattress too to go with my new bed frame - but I dread going round the shops for it.  Had enough of buying for awhile. =]

 

heh heh @ locals.  What's the name of the hotel?  My brother used to work up at Forrest Hills.

 

So, how went the flat warming?  All went good?

Oh yeah, Skye was one place I was very pleased to leave!  I can imagine, not only battered by sticks, but battered by hail stones from the side too - not good conditions!  Rain was always horizontal there... O_o

 

That is odd, I'm a bit more sheltered with trees and some houses breaking the wind.

 

Ow, two foot shorter or narrower?  *checks profile height* You're nearly 6 ft, I can understand that'd be maddening.  Nothing worse than an uncomfortable mattress.  I tried sleeping on mine on the floor for a couple days - couldn't stand it without some support frame.

 

Yeah, I will be - at least now I have space to move around (break out the dance mat!!! XD).  What's your place like?  Is it a small family-run farm?

 

That'll be a good time tomorrow - getting to catch up with friends.  Shame you have to come home early, but I have the same problem with going to Glasgow, since I rely on the buses too.  Well, have a great time at the flat-warming, man! :D

Wow, I hope the chickens weren't in the cope at the time! :O  Reminds me of the Isle of Skye weather, where I used to live for a while as a kid.

 

You must be more in more open territory than me to get that sort of wind!

 

The room's still waiting on a chair, lol - I've been avoiding thinking about getting another.  The light strip came and it works, though had to send for a better transformer and another strip before I hook them up round the room.  Still I've got them round the floor skirting board and set them off to fade/flash colour-cycle while listening to some music.  They're fun, but I've got to work out how to cut up some polystyrene to mount them round the ceiling. heh

 

You been to your friend's flat warming this week yet, how did it go?  Or is it not 'til the weekend?

Yeah, the wind picked up today a fair bit - but it seems to have died down again, as you say.  No flying cows around. :(

 

I bet!  Sounds like you have even fewer buses where you are, than I do. heh

 

I usually go more for particular tunes rather than bands, because I find usually they have either one or just a few tunes I like and the rest isn't worth a repeat listen.  I like all sorts, in all genres really, but mostly I just have my whole collection on random select and quickly shuffle through until I find a tune for my mood. XD

Good luck on the compo!  Fly Agaric's make great looking photos - I'm curious now to see the selective colouring you did on it.  I've taken a few photos of fungi, but it's rare to find undamaged Fly Agarics around, so I've not done one of them.

Don't get me wrong - I'm glad you're got a good winter line-up to go see. :D  Gotta keep busy during the cold weather, talking of which there was meant to be the remains of a hurricane coming to Scotland today?  Seems mild here though.

Congrats on passing your theory, big plus done!  Will be cool to get your license in November and be free to go where you want, when you like to concerts.  Plus, you can escape the locals more. =D

You should put some up - adds a little more real life to the site.  A lot of folk concentrate on close-ups, but as long as the picture size is set high enough, you get all the detail and see the whole person/scene behind makes for a better pic often.

 

I was thinking like this trick - have you ever tried a photo like that?  I think the ones where the clones are 'looking' or interacting with each other are clever.

Of course, just getting a normal perfect photo angle on something is a great satisfaction once you see the photo turn out great.  Or when you get those depth-of-field shots or fore-shortening effects, those are cool, but really can't be done easily yourself.

 

I agree, when the handling gets too stiff and you can't turn to save yourself it spoils the fun.

 

You're going to have a busy winter :D  How are you getting in to Glasgow?  Do you have a car?

Yeah!  I used to hate being in pictures - I would run at the sight of a friend pointing their camera. lol  But now I quite like pictures and editing them is fun - or at least cropping & colour-balancing them (which I do a lot of, my camera always makes things slightly yellow indoors).  Just I end up picky about which pic to keep. heh  One of my best friend's friends came to the street fayre in June and wanted to take pics of my red mohawk.  It's funny when folk get all awed.

 

I wouldn't mind doing some more false background stuff - tried that once, worked out quite well.  That and clones in the same pic are cool, though getting the shadows right is tricky.  Someone on here did that in a photo.

 

Need for speed!  Oooh, fav series, shift 2, huh?  That's one I'll be getting myself too.  How's the handling in it?

 

Maybe could work out to hang out in the town centre before a concert some time in the future.  What bands are at the concerts?

I was a fan of Uncharted from the beginning videos, would be sweet to play it.

 

Yep, you always get the odd bunch that want to cause trouble.  Sometimes I go into Glasgow too, haven't been recently though.

 

What made you pick Photography?  My oldest brother has got into photography in a big way recently (as his hobby, doing macro images and scenery).  So I've been a few walks round the countryside with him hunting out new things to photograph. :D

Funny enough, me too - one of my older brothers had a PSX and I used to go for a regular gaming night at my friend's brothers who had a couple playstations and then PS2's.

 

Yeah, I always liked the Prince of Persia series - not tried the last one though, and Uncharted looks like an awesome type of that.  The new PS Vita is looking very impressive.

 

Aye, I know exactly how you mean about not being seen as a local - had the same problem both in Skye and down here in this village (at first).  It's got better now (more incomers), but there are still pretty petty & close-minded folk around.  I prefer Glasgow, when I go through there, the people are generally very friendly and I can be myself.  A friend of mine went to Glasgow college - what course are you going to do?
