At Vandalia high school, life is fairly simple for us. We have a very basic routine, and according to the majority of the students, we live a boring town where nothing happens. Most of our days seem drug out and uneventful. It seems that in the rare occurrence of a fight or brawl, it becomes the peak of gossip and hallway-talk for days. This, for the most part, is as bad as things get around this area. Most of the schools are fairly small; anywhere from a few hundred to several hundred students, but never an amount that causes anyone to gasp at the high numbers. We are so lucky to not have experienced some of the tragedies that face much larger schools, and the main problem in these largely populous schools is student-based violence.
Ranging from big to small, school violence crimes happen a lot more than people realize. It may not directly affect us, but it is still a huge problem. In West Paducah, Kentucky, just over a decade ago, a freshman killed three of his classmates and wounded five more. Just a few months later, a young man in Arkansas killed five and wounded eleven more. Of course, we also have the extremely infamous Columbine shootings, where fourteen students (including the gunmen) and a teacher were shot and killed. http://www.123helpme.com/view.asp?id=19858
