I did a strand test with some cut off before and tried bleaching it, then leaving the dye on it for around 30mins and when I washed that the red wasn't as deep as I wanted.  I'd had experience before with the blue from the same maker (Directions) and found after the recommended time it just washed out without really doing more than tint my hair a bit.

 

I think my hair doesn't take colour in well unless I leave it on for longer - how long though I don't like risking, I usually just wait until the dye dries before doing anything with it.  Since it's a vegetable-based conditioner itself, it shouldn't cause any harm.

heheh yeah, it seems to have stuck now though through washing, but the day after I found I could wipe the red right off from some bleached bits on the side with hot water and they went nearly blond again.
