Yes, tease = back combing. I've have only seen "back-combing" as a term used in literature. I've never actually heard someone use it. In my neck of the woods we say "tease". Sorry for the confusion.

So when you say tease, you mean backcombing, correct?
I tease the shit out of it. The key is that you've gotta be willing to risk breakage. Tease really close to the scalp. Like an inch above the scalp for several strokes then a little further up the strand of hair. Then to another strand. It also helps that my mohawk is cut in a v shape. Wider than some hawks on top. I've more hair to build up a base.
