On the top you start at the front and on the back you go up, because you have to go against the growth of the hair to cut it.

So when you cut "slowly beside the hawk line", do you start from the top front and work straight back parallel along the hawk line to the bottom of the hawk?

I usually use clippers to cut it with a #1 or #2 guard (1/8-1/4").  I pull my hawk to one side and slowly cut beside the hawk line. I keep it pulled tight so that I can see the little hairs that usually get missed. This time I cut it without a guard and used a blade razor or an ordinary leg razor to shave it completely.

So you use an electric razor? Do you use a guard? How do you trim right beside the hawk line? Parallel with the Hawk or kind of in and up along the hawk line??

Once you do it a couple times it gets easy. Just use a hand mirror for the back and work in small sections.

Your Earlocks are looking good Julie! I wish I could keep my sides trimmed myself, but am too scared I'll make a mistake! :-)
