Rocking now, Rocked in the past, Thinking about rocking it sometime, Just like watching others rock them
Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
Started MohawksRock.com in November 2007, after finding it hard to find a good amount of information on how to actually make a mohawk. In the sites first year we have had over 1 Million hits from 150+ countries and 1000 members. Since then we have had 10,000,000+ pages viewed in 200+ countries with our top cities being London, NYC, Dublin, L.A. and Sydney.
I apologize if it takes me awhile to get back to you on comments or emails. I really do try to get back to everyone. After the first 1000 members I haven't been able to add everyone as a friend, but if you have joined, you are definitely a friend so feel free to add me too.
If you have a mohawk you know what its like to be looked at funny and even ostracized or admired. Keep this in mind on here and have respect for the different viewpoints of members here. We all have something more in common than awesome hair and that is an extreme sense of self and individualism. That sometimes causes arguments and harsh feelings, but remember they are as you are.
Finally, promote the site! Put links back to the site wherever you find necessary. The more active members we have the better information we will have and the more collective influence we will have. Tell your mom, dad, friends and co-workers. Lets unite a community of seemingly sparse individuals across the world.
How Tall Are You With and Without the Mohawk:
I'm 6'11 without the mohawk, and I'm typically over 8' tall with it standing, as I don't cut it below 13 inches just for this reason. Currently the hawk is around 20 inches putting me at 8'7 taller than Leonid Stadnyk (8'5), the worlds tallest man.
Well, I was amazed the domain name was still available in November 2007, so I bought it and started up this social network for all those that love mohawks.
hey thanks for the welcome man! I have two quetions: how do I put a question up in the forums and do you think only super skinny mini girls can pull off mohawks?
Hey GMM, I thought you'd like to know, this site is ace. Not only did i meet my ex on here, I went to berlin last week, and met a mate on here that i've been talking to for the past month & i'm going over to demark in a month for a chill there with em...Good times! :) xx
They really like that water lily picture for their avatar...it's almost like it's the same spammer retrying? And remember! They're 'female' and "became so much intersted to established a relationship with you" ;) rofl Oh, they make my day sometimes.
Yes, I remember getting one of those group messages before and after that I made sure to warn folk to turn off that feature. It was just waiting to be abused really.
The interesting thing is the drive to get folk to email them when they already can send spam to people from the social networking site. Makes me wonder if they want to collect personal emails for more nefarious reasons than just sending links.
Yea, once you adapt it aint so bad here. I'm currently growing my hair out, over the years of shaving the sides I've managed to skim the 'hawk thinner and thinner, so I might end up starting over!
Hey GMM It seems in the last little while, alot of conflict between members has arisen due to unpopular political stances *ahem racial supremacy*, and bodily images *ahem nudies*.
No matter how much moderation you contribute, there will always be peoples that post something that violate rules or other peoples beliefs. Plus I can see you're trying to be somewhat impartial right?
Despite all of this, people still fail to realize that you probably pay a bit out of pocket for hosting and domain right? What i'm trying to say is thanks for creating an awesome website.
A new blog spammer with 20 new blogs about various products for sale I believe. They have a nice pretty re-coloured flower avatar - flowers and spammers seem to be common practice for some reason on here... ^_^
Holy crap, dude, my hawk is only just now around 8 inches and I'm starting to have a pretty hard time just getting it up, much less keeping it up, you have to tell me how you get that massive thing standing tall...
Just had a thought - to prevent potential silent PM spam profiles - saying on the sign-up that they need a self-pic showing themselves. Since most spam profiles seem to use abstract or cartoon images it would make a better real-human test and encourage them to feel personally connected and maybe get involved in the site more rather than just lurk or move on. It also encourages others to welcome them and increase the community aspect.
One thing MR's not had yet is music group spam profiles. Those eventually plagued other social sites such as My Space and got the nerves with spam adds & messages.
In my view, I would say profiles should stay for individuals on MR and if music(or other) groups start making profiles they should be treated as spam and politely suggested to create a personal profile for themselves and to create a MR group entry to advertise their band/group. What do you think?
