About Me:: Started MohawksRock.com in November 2007, after finding it hard to find a good amount of information on how to actually make a mohawk. In the sites first year we have had over 1 Million hits from 150+ countries and 1000 members. Since then we have had 10,000,000+ pages viewed in 200+ countries with our top cities being London, NYC, Dublin, L.A. and Sydney.

I apologize if it takes me awhile to get back to you on comments or emails. I really do try to get back to everyone. After the first 1000 members I haven't been able to add everyone as a friend, but if you have joined, you are definitely a friend so feel free to add me too.

If you have a mohawk you know what its like to be looked at funny and even ostracized or admired. Keep this in mind on here and have respect for the different viewpoints of members here. We all have something more in common than awesome hair and that is an extreme sense of self and individualism. That sometimes causes arguments and harsh feelings, but remember they are as you are.

Finally, promote the site! Put links back to the site wherever you find necessary. The more active members we have the better information we will have and the more collective influence we will have. Tell your mom, dad, friends and co-workers. Lets unite a community of seemingly sparse individuals across the world.
How Tall Are You With and Without the Mohawk:: I'm 6'11 without the mohawk, and I'm typically over 8' tall with it standing, as I don't cut it below 13 inches just for this reason. Currently the hawk is around 20 inches putting me at 8'7 taller than Leonid Stadnyk (8'5), the worlds tallest man.

How did you find MohawksRock.com: Well, I was amazed the domain name was still available in November 2007, so I bought it and started up this social network for all those that love mohawks.

I saw some of the rest of the panda parade, but since they keep reusing that distinctive image it makes it very easy to spot them now.

Perhaps they are set to trigger off spam now after a random delay in the hope some slip in under the radar of checks for the previous mass blog/forum spams instantly on joining.

LOL Nice idea! It's a constant battle of wits. You could always try the human test: "Are you a panda?" =)

I'd not heard of the 'whitehats', only 'blackhats'.

That wouldn't have occurred to me, the peppering with fake spam to detect potential for a site to be spammed. Though it makes a lot of sense, since the ad money is in the search engines.

It certainly seems like the 'attack' started off with just the odd one and now it's stepping up. We'll see if they keep continuing to come. It's another good reason to prune off all spam. I just wish more people deleted spam comments to stop the results aggregating in search providers.

It's way more complicated than anyone would expect, this spam & search world!

Yeah, I can see today that the top member seems to be based on the last day's total activity. Like eSlayer added a load of photo's and they were #1, now they've disappeared from the top 5. Kinda handy though to catch up who's got a lot of new stuff to look at.

If it is a kinda-of short-term activity rating, then it's actually less competitive and more informative, which is nice. Although I can get a little competitive at times. heheh

It takes a lot of time up sorting through all the pics manually. Especially with a backlog. Sometimes it's just easier to deal with the recent ones! :D

Yeah, the 'leaderboard' term is misleading, if my guess about it being just short-term day's activity. I agree there's a fine balance between contests and fruitful engagement. Too often it leads to folk just going round saying: "I agree" or "You're so right!" everywhere to boost their post count. =)

I think I like the title: "Hey, what's happening today?", more friendly than 'Leaderboard' - which is more like a golf tournament! PAR!

Good work! I hadn't noticed the 'weekly'/'monthly' until after youi mentioned them. We see how the trends work out as more data gets fed in.

And thanks for the blog feature - it's nice to know folk read them.

I prefer the new layout with the 'Invite' at the end - does anyone ever use those 'Invite' features?! Usually I just consider 'invites' as spam in my email, like from 'Grouply'.

Cool that you like my pics so much last year i have felt like the first punker in the 70:s being the only girl with mohawk in Makedonia and one of few with strange style so guess that is how it feels like. Its great that you still have your mohawk my father have to sometimes and most fun was the pink, wish i was a boy so i could have pink beard that would be awsome!

They have this fascination with 'pretty names', spammers...that and they love those Windows XP desktop pics for their avatars. =) I always did like those water lilies.

Ah! I love the "view thread" option.

I tried it once before, but it didn't work out well for me. But that was also before the flash update. I do have the chat bar pop up, but it seems to get stuck at certain points, even when I'm scrolling and trying to give it a chance to move with the page. Seemingly always over something I want to follow the links to haha. But when you click on it, even when you are trying to reach something near or under it, the chat bar takes priority.

But the chat works better as a straight pop up from the bar, rather than a separate page. It's got a huge delay. And definitely is better viewed zoomed out, than zoomed in. The screen seems to bounce back down to the dialogue box - but only if you scroll up to high. It's kind of weird.

That is so true, spammers are even more annoying - though sometimes they can be funny. I kinda love the emails I get at times saying I've inherited X million or can become a beneficiary on the behalf of a pretend lawyer from Brazil or Spain. =)

heheh I'd almost be sold if I wasn't a veggie. lol Still, great you got another site project nearly out the door - though they always keep you on your toes with wanting further last minute changes I bet.

Yeah, I think FB is very dishonest in that respect not offering the option to close an account normally. The irony is, I still get fake FB spam - some spammer has a spider storing FB user id's and they don't know my account is deactivated. =)

Oh, and so close, just 5 members away from the 4000th! I wonder who that'll be...
