and the casualties too eh? the only thing i have to critisize is that jorge isn't the best singer in the world with the spanish accent, but hey, most punk bands don't have amazing singers xD
shahle, not that i know of, or any that i do i'm not within reach of. yeah, i haven't been to a good show for a long while now, haven't had the money at all to see any major bands.
ah, i'd gladly trade places and go to new zealand, in CT everyone is the same and i'm literally just one of two punked out kids anywhere near where i live xD
Ah, Maiden was good.
I haven't heard of any other gigs, it's mega shit.
I'm just keen for a mosh, a rave, anything. I've heard that Static-X and Manson are coming sometime, but they aren't confirmed.
haha, always wanted to see a maiden concert, and as far as that goes, it must be this fuckin economy, nobody wants to spend money so the bands won't tour...
that static-x one sounds like it would be a good time though
Ugh, reckon. It's shit that good bands won't come here.
I live about, 4-5 hours north of Aux, so it isn't too bad, but it's still mega hard to get there.
Maiden was amazing, lotsa energy, fucking great acoustics, just epic.
Personally, I think Con. was their weakest album. I still liked it, but it just didn't seem that good. I really liked One Fine Day, and Vultures reminded me of Dirty Magic. There were a few others, but nothing really stood out that much.
And don't worry, I don't think you're copying me. I just hadn't seen you with a different profile pic, and thought it was odd that it was of a mediocre album after ....And Out Come The Wolves. Just thought I'd comment and see what you thought of it.
Geeze thats a hard one.... I think when I was five, so.... about 1997. I remember because Ixnay had just come out. Its acctually a cool story. I've always been a big gamer/geek/techie, and around that time my dad bought me a game called Jugular Street Luge Racing. It was a FUCKING AMAZING game! Especailly for 1997 on a PC, you know? And on the front there was a sticker that said "Featuring songs off The Offspring's new album 'Ixnay On The Hombre'" It had Mota, Leave It Behind, and my all time fav, All I Want. I know now, since Greg K. and Noodles used to be into Street Luge-ing, they must have gotten involved in the game. Half of the time I was plying just to listen to the THREE Offspring songs that were on it =P I was so amazed, I went out to buy the album, but they didn't have it..... so I bought Smash instead! I had no idea who this band was, and I only knew three of their songs, much less their fame from that album, but I fell in love. I had never heard punk before, and didn't even know what it was, or that the Offspring were punk, but their sound, their lyrics, their intensity was astounding. From there, I started to collect their albums (and now I proudly own almost EVERYTHING they have ever recorded, with the exception of two songs only released on comps), and with every new album, I learned every lyric, and seriously thought about them. A few years later a friend introduced me to The Misfits, and from there, lead me into Punk-dom. I still own the game, but haven't played it in years cause it only works on Windows 98.
Its taken a LONG TIME. I've worked really hard, and taken advantge of a lot of things. Some where easy to find (like the Complete Music Video Comp (which is now out of date)), but others like Club Me, which was a three track album with two covers and an original song, they actually found a stash of and sold through thier site. They also started giving away an old VHS called Americana FOR FREE! I think the only things I'm missing is a song called Hand Grenades off of Short Songs For Short People (a 100 song comp averaging 30 seconds a song), and Mission From God which I think was on a Punk-o-Rama. Their site has a pretty complete listing of all their stuff, but you still need to keep your eyes peeled. I could prolly send you the three songs off of Club Me, but the only way I know how to is through email.
Yeah, but you can send it through a private message or something, so no one else gets it. I promise I won't spam or anything. My email is DexHolland, so if you see that, its me. Its gonna have to be three different emails, one for each track. I really think you'll like the songs, it adds so much more flavor to the band, and they have a different sound than most of their other stuff.
Got your email! Sorry, but I can't send them right now. I'm going on a rafting trip that came up pretty short notice. I actually just got ready to go, and while I'm waiting, decided to check my email. I should be back late tomorrow, and have the tracks to you by Sunday. As to the downloading question, I'll be sending them to you as an attachment, and you should just be able to download that.
Sorry I've been MIA for a while, schools been taking up most of my time. I'm glad you love them! :D I knew you would, they're to good not to like! Your very welcome, and if theirs anythiing else of The 'Springs you want, just let me know! As far as I'm concerned, you don't owe me anything. Sharing music is the responsibility of the fans, and its all done without expectaition of payment or compensaition. Balls, I'm a terrible speller XD Have fun with the songs and share them with your friends!
EXACTLY! I love that feeling! Things have been going 'eh' for me lately. Not to good, not really bad. I haven't been to any shows in what seems like forever, but theres a lot coming up. I've actually fallen into a position of (some) power with one of the local bands here. I'm the offical head of their Street Team, and my girlfriend and I run it. The band name is the A.A. DropOuts, if you want to check them out. Theres also Ska Homecoming, a cd release show/party for another local band I'm friends with, and a bizzillion other local shows I may or may not end up at. I'm still watching for larger bands coming through, too. The 'Fits are coming in December, and I'm hoping that Social D will add another leg on to their tour and stop by here. What about you?
I LOVE my local scene! Ska is still alive here, and theres a few punk bands that don't suck. But the best thing is that (almost) everyone is cool! If you wnat a sample of some cool local bands check out: Johny Cakes and the Four Horsemen of the Apacalypso, A.A. DropOuts, Out of Nothing, ChupaSKAbra, Idols End and The Scurvy. Alexis and I are personal friends with all of them. Keep in mind these bands are just local, and most of them have better music when they're live XD
That actually doesn't sound bad. I'm trying to get a job at a Halloween store. Do you guys celebrate Halloween over there? I know that its a Pagan holiday, and not a national one, but I don't know if anyother place is as enthusiastic about it =P
Also, the A.A. DropOuts are A LOT better live ;) They're not great, but they're awsome for a local band! I live in Tampa, Forida (which is the little tip hanging off the bottom of the east side of the U.S.). Its an OK place, but the scene here is spread across a couple close cities and counties. It can be a drive for shows, but its worth it. The farthest I've driven for a local show was 45 min. one way, but I've driven 2 hours for Flogging Molly, Casualties and Leftove Crack, The Offspring, and a few others.
Yeah, it doesn't sound much like a holiday for the world.
That sucks about the plane flight to see a concert. I see why you say I've have it so good here. If I ever tour with a band, I'll make sure to cover New Zealand! =P Speaking of which, The Offspring is playing a couple big shows in Austrailia, so keep your fingers crossed!!
I really have no idea how many I've been to. Like I've said, I just started to get into the live scene just a year or two ago, and I started slow. I've probaly been to 20 or 30, but I feel like that number could eaisily be in the hundreds if I wasn't so late XD I also feel kind of bad for saying thats a low number, because with your situaition, you probably haven't been to many :(
Haha Odd question, but I'll answer. Yes, sadly, I am still living with my mom and the pig she married after my dad died. It sucks, but I need a place to live while I'm in school, ya know? How 'bout you? Still shacked up with ya parents?
Mine feel the same way. I'm always getting talks about how people get judged on appearance and how I'll never get a job and if I ever get pulled over my car will be searched. But the worst one is that me, my girlfriend, and all of our other punk friends are DOING IT ALL FOR ATTENTION! I CAN'T STAND HOW CLOSED MINDED PEOPLE ARE THESE DAYS! I've basically just told them that "Yes, all we want is attention" just to make 'em shut the fuck up! I think thats the thing that pisses me off most about living with people who don't understand. Thay aren't WILLING to even try and understand
Sorry I went MIA again, during a big convo. I know exactly how you feel. So many people are so extroverted these days, and I think that scociety is telling them to be. Everything in the schools is indoctrination, and completly biased. It's driving me nuts! Right now I'm having to write a reaserch paper on the "Amerikan Dream," and our teacher gave us a list of sources we can use! Its bullshit! For satan's sake, its a REASERCH PAPER! HOW ARE WE SUPPOST TO REASERCH SOMETHING IF ITS DICTATED TO US!! So, of course, none of our 'sourses' support my thesis of the Amerikan Dream being a brand name to further conformity to social norms, and completly fabricated by the powerful to keep us down on the ground and struggling to rise to what we are expected to do. Shit is truly fucked up, indeed.
I feel ya, PND. There's no more independant thinkers out there that acctually make a differance. I baisically bullshit-ed my paper cause the damn thing was bullshit anyway. And last year, the only punk at my school (who graduated last year D:) besides me and my girlfriend, was called a nazi by a teacher... and he was wearing an anti-nazi BACK PATCH. I mean, the damn thing couldn't have been any bigger, yet the people in charge of 'educating' the youth of today are so fucking ignorant and apathetic. It ridiculous.....
Sorry to here that :( I hope you're doing better! Everyone needs a little down time anyways ;)
I've been doing alright, floating around recently and hoping to snap back to reality soon. I did just get two new videos games I've been looking forward to for a while, though, and they're pretty fun. Going out to the the fourth Ska Is Dead tour tomorrow. Featuring The Toasters, Mustard Plug and The Voodoo Glow Skulls! I can't wait! Theres a SHIT TON of concerts coming up, and I don't know if I'll have the money to hit all of them =P I'll find a way, somehow.....
And as for schools, I think they are educational institutions, and you CAN learn some stuff there(enphisis on some ), thats the only reaeason I'm still going. I like to learn, but all the bull shit we have to put up with is almost not worth it.... I also think that schools are given too much credit. As you said, you learned more OUT of school than in, and I think I have too. Schools are goodOK at teaching a few things, but not a lot. The schools either need to be fixed, or we a better place to get educated.
Hey! Not much. Well... actually a lot, thats why I haven't been online in AGES. =P I have been more regular recently, both in poo and online, and I'm going to be getting on a lot more. I miss it, as sad as that sounds... XD
I love the NOFX pics, and the way you kind of change your page whenever you feel like it. I wish I had a cool page, but I'm kinda lazy.
Your lucky you HAVE a winter! When youre in Florida (the southern most tip), there is ONLY SUMMER. The coldest its gotten this year was 38, and that was in the dead of night! We had about one week of not-that-cold weather, but that was it. I LOVE the cold, unlike most of the people around here, and really wish I could be in it more. But, eh, what'er ya gonna do?
As for being bored, theres always plenty of things to do! Just grab some friends and go bowling, or to an arcade (if you can find them), or, my favorite, get into the local music scene! I know It can be hard if you don't really know whats going on and where, but, and I hate to say this, MySpace is a good place to start. You can search for bands in your part of the country, and by genre. Shows are usually listed on the page, and don't cost very much. You meet lots of great people, and always have a great time.
Oh, shit! My bad! I'm still using the Dumbass Scale (AKA Fahrenheit). Allow me to translate: The coldest its gotten this year is -1, but this "winter" it was usually 15-20. Most of the year its over 26 (at least). And by most of the year, I mean all but two weeks. The height of summer is usually 45. Sorry for the misleading info =P
Upcoming concerts of bands you would know would probably consist of Flogging Molly, The Explendables, Dropkick Murphys, and The English Beat. Thats most of 'em for the next two months, I think...
