Ok so I would imagine there are plenty alternative music lovers out there. Who likes metal? I use metal as an umbrella term btw, Deathmetal, metalcore, thrash metal, whatever! If you're into it, tell us about it.
i fuckin love thrash! i also like some black metal, death metal, n um... haha idk wat exactly ozzy, iron maiden n bands like that r (guessin just metal)
when i was younger i was aware of what metal was but not how many different types there were. My current boyfriend showed me the rest. I deffinatly listen to some but im sure there are lost more types out there that need exploring.
haha to Alex....i Love metal all the way but also i love punk. I like the angry-ness of metal and the outrageous-ness of punk.
I think it's a good combo.

I love the guitars and the sound of rage the music emanates through the speakers. I don't know any "types" but I like mostly all of it and I love a lot of music. As long as it sounds good and has something to say to me.
I'm pretty sure I saw Amon Amarth on the UK part of that tour too Adrian, I was in a similar situation to you... I didn't get why there were so few Amon Amarth fans.
the bassist in my band plays in a black metal band called Primitive Graven Image, they played with Amon Amarth at Winterfest in Ireland about a month ago and there was only 350 people in the audience.
Never held much love for reading. I went once, Slayer played... Then 50 cent tried to play then I left. Also, didn't sombody get raped at reading fest?
Download ticket booked. Bloodstock ticket... I'm thinking about it.
..well Reading is definitely off the list once I saw the line up, not my type. Not surprised if someone did get raped there, very big area with loads of people.
I'm still a metal concert virgin, and while I love metal and it's subgenres, I'm a constantly changing force and am always discovering a new band to listen to. I like what I like and am not ashamed to say it! xD Otep, Straight Line Stitch, Lacuna Coil, Crisis, Disturbed, Dragonforce, Slipknot, Sevendust, Kittie, Nightwish, Within Temptation, and Turisas are all bands who I am either devoted to or who have at least one song I like. I do admit that if I find a female fronted metal band I tend to bond with and attach myself to the lyrics more.
I think its funny, in a retarded way like Chowder. To me, if I love music, tv should not affect my likings. Whereas, will it may defeat the purpose of real metal? no not really, its just a placement like imitation crab meat, just a T.V show But what you said is funny and I may be so keen on agreeing =D. lol
oh, and if you hadn't noticed, this is really a desolate place to be, we or at least I long for more action. Shouldn't you? *sigh* thats where randomness comes in. And trust me, We should never have a stanger scrutinize others just for their likings.
I catagoricly fail to see how any of those band are "poserish", the veiw that, because a band makes some money from what they do and have the slightest ammount of comercial success, they are therefore SELLOUTS, COMERCIALISTS, TRAITORS TO THEIR FANS, and all that nonsence is bull. Utter bull. The internet really seems to warp some peoples opinions into just... Into just plain old crap lol.
Also, like Joey said, people get enough stick for liking metal without having to get it from other people who like metal aswell!
gah!! I feel so .... oh whats the word, understood!! and I think people should love music no matter what. I cant live without music and nither can you all. I have this ridiculously Beautiful obsession with music.
..about Slipknot I think it is because of the rivalry between Mushroomhead claiming they stole their appearance and so on. Very vague since we are about the music not the looks.
..the subgenres are important imo, but this -core shit is really annoying, since the -cores mainly speed up their music and shout their lyrics, which makes it unbearable sometimes.
..CoF is known for that and I love the chants and choirs they add to their music with creates a work of art imo.
..the term ''hardcore'' is more of an adjective rather an actual subgenre since you can describe deathmetal as hardcore metal if use the actual meaning of the word, and yes i know it originated from punk.
..I have nothing against nu-metal and i dont know why most dont like/appreciate it. Its just another child of the master metal.
Half of the so called 'image' that most bands seem to biuld up is almost entirley thier fans blowing shit out of proportion. Like Slipknot for example, they get this shitty rap for being popular and because of this bullshit 'm4gg0tz 4 lyfe!' mentality of faaar too many of thier fans. If people would just formulate thier own opinions instead of just agreeing with whatever they see on the internet they'd be so much better off for it. Again for example Slipknot, if you'd look past their popular image you'd discover they that do play some heavy fucking songs! The same goes for the likes of alot of this 'emo' nonsence. Half the bands labeled as emo are just stand up average pop/rock bands. Christ look what happened to MCR, thier whole last album got slated to shit because of thier fanatical folowing of 12y/o kids, is that thier fault? Fuck no, it isn't.
The same goes for genres. One band does not lie under one genre. Many bands out there switch back and 4th between them inside of a single album but people rarley realise that. Genres should only ever be used to describe the style of music of a band to sombody who has never heard them, even then you should probably say a few. Otherwise they're usless. I can barley even stand to talk about them they annoy me so much.
