Like tattoos, piercings, scarification, branding, permanent make up and all that in between? Well, this is a place for you! Talk about experiences, name some shops, or ask questions regarding. We can help you out.
eric, it depends on how well you take care of it. keep it clean. you can use a bit of rubbing alcohol for a little bit, but don't over do it because it could dry it out too much. and you want to wait until you can move it around and tug on it a bit without it hurting at all. if it still hurts, don't stretch it again until the pain is completely gone.
..ok good thanks thats what i wanted to know =). I am cleaning it 3 times a day first with saline solution and then with metadine solution to make sure its clean. so far the swelling is gone and puss has stopped coming out, for the moment. hopefully wont take long than 2 weeks ..
Just thought I'd mention my apprenticeship is completed. Now I'm a full time tattoo artist. Happened a while ago. Just didn't get around to tell you lot. And I'd like to say I'm impressed with the growth of the group. We're the 8th largest with members. I say we get some conversation going to really get this place off and running again.
I might go under apprenticeship (if thats a word) with a local tattoo artist that happens to be friends with my mom. it sounds like a good idea to me, what do you guys think?
I won't miss it. He's local and if he leaves my mom knows him so shell get a hold of him. I need to come up with some sketches and go over to his tattoo parlor and talk. He does own his own tattoo parlor. its called Cohwen's Ink Emporium which is his first name
Ive done all of my piercings myself wich are 6 on the ears gauged to 3/4,snakebites twice, labret, monroe, nose, septum, bellybutton so i have 13 and there will be much more at least until they are all symetrical.i have a question about d.i.y tattoing ive done it on a friend with a sewing needle and caligrophy ink ,and ive made a tattoo gun but i dont trust using a guitar string to tattoo anyone even myself, what is the best method to do it at home?and im not asking to hear you all tell me to get it done right, just asking opinions or experiences.
snakebites, tounge, eyebrow, anti eyebrow, nipples, hips and 8 in each ear. as for ink, batman symbol, heart and rose, brass knuckles on my knuckle (lol) and a 50s pinup version of myself.
had my septum and my tongue web im going to re pierce my septum and my goal is to be able to wear a 25mm tunnel im only fifteen but my parents let me buy a complete tattoo kit its pretty sick i plant on doing a koi on my upper thigh but for now all my piercings will have to be ones my parents cant see.

I've been looking into getting into the body modification business for a while, unfortunately most of the surrounding parlors are hard for me to get to and It'd be hard for me to get back and fourth to these shops if I could land an apprenticeship. Considering it's a lengthy business before you can actually become a professional,i have many concerns about getting started since my time will now be split taking care of another human being .Did anyone else have these sort of issues getting started? and any advice that might help get the ball rolling, or get ahead of the curve?
I was in a shop the other day checking out the dermals I think that's how its spelled Idk but definitely wanting to add one or more to sparkle up my tatts lol the guy said they are like implants but you can change out the jewelry :) sounds cool! Anyone know much about em?
Dermals are a bit different than a piercing Sarah.....they are actually small anchors that are placed under the skin and then the body grows around and thru the hole in them under the skin thus anchoring them to the body. If you ever want them removed, they have to be surgically cut out and can leave scars. They have a threaded hole that sticks out of the skin, which you can thread on different balls, rings, and such. They are commonly used for a corset on the back or on the side of a leg, but can also be used for venom bites on the neck or anywhere for that matter. They are quite neat, but should be considered relatively permanent. :-)
Thanks Dan :) So the beads or balls or whatever you choose to put on them, that's the part that has the bar and then that screws into what's in your skin? I was gonna get one on my butterfly tattoo on my arm. The guy I was talking to didn't seem very knowledgeable about them. They looked super cool though and I don't really have commitment issues lol so no worries about the permanent anchor thing.
Oh wow thanks Dan :) I suppose the explanation doesn't get more clear than that. Thanks again! I think you're family and friends must be lucky lol you seem like a patient person. :)
Has anyone had trouble with their navel piercing always wanting to migrate out? If so, have you tried using titanium jewelry to prevent this instead if Surgical Stainless Steel and did that stop the migration from happening?
I don't know if this would be helpful Dan, or if its even the right thing to do. My belly ring sorta migrated you could say so that it wasn't straight. So the second guy I went to about it, not the guy I had pierce it, suggested I take it out and if I just had to have a belly ring he could pierce directly behind the old piercing using a bigger gauge and the scar tissue in front would ensure that it didn't move. It hasn't and the holes from the first piercing there are pretty much gone. So there's my two cents :) good luck.
I've used the surgical steel and it was a 12 gauge and its seemed to work better.. Id just ask your piercer. I bet titanium would be better in my opinion because well its not as heavy I think. I've had the same problem with my eyebrow rings but I won't pierce them again. The third one out is trying to migrate out and I've had them for so so long I wouldn't feel right only having two.
So talking about piercings has made me want to wear my labret. I wear it off and on. I've had it for about 12yrs. Anyway I've only worn studs because I can't seem to find an actual ring that doesn't rub my teeth. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just the placement of my piercing ??
Talking about labrets.......man I want snakebites so bad.....just trying to figure a way to pierce mine so they aren't visible for work. Has anyone used the clear retainer studs in theirs and if so, does that hide them completely??
ugh! i miss my nose ring so much! I had to take it out for my job, however i think my boss is becoming more relaxed when it comes to facial piercings because there is a new girl with her septum done.
Nice part with a septum Boogle, is that you can flip it up for work so no one can see it. That's what I do. As for the nose ring, if you just put in a small stud, almost any employer will usually accept it. So let's go for it!! :-)
yeah well the girl that has her septum done wears her jewelry flipped down and visible and our boss doesn't seem to mind it. I might get my nose re done later, ive had it re done a few times though (like 2 or three maybe?) so im unsure how many times you can get something repierced.
i used to wear a stud but i hated it, and when i wore a ring i always had troubles changing the jewelry cause its so hard to get the ball back in the ring!
What happened to this site? You 3 are 98% of the activity for many months. There's not even enough content to generate a "top 10" on the main page, it's just the top 1 right now. Not complaining, you guys seem fun but just an observation.
I suppose I'll post some relevant content
I have a lot more ideas for ink but as far as piercings I just want my septum done. I heard that while it's healing it smells nasty and when it's cold it's no fun. Is that true?
If everyone would just check in every second or third day and just post a few words even, it would sure help us out. Aren't we all proud of our Hawks that we want to share everything about them?? And this Site is so much more than just Hawks.....it's FauxHawks, Tatts, Piercings, Music, and just general help with life in general. So let's all do our part and help each other out! :-)
In answer to your septum question, it doesn't really smell when it's healing. but if you wear your septum retainer up inside your nose most of the time like I do, it can the odd time build up a bit just above the retainer and cause a slight smell that only you can smell. Usually a blow can fix that up. As for the cold, I have never really worn mine down yet in the cold, so I can't honestly say. With it up, the cold doesn't bother as far as I know. I guess I'll find out in about a month! :-)
