Here's mine:
Hi! My name is Amanda and I currently live in Nashville, TN. I unwittingly got my first mohawk just after I turned 14, I was in a really bad car accident which put me through the windshield and as a result lost about half my hair. I sported a rather funky version of it for awhile before my hair decided to grow back in lol but I always loved it. Around the time I turned 19 I was in another accident (I really need to stay out of cars :P) and lost a good chunk of the back of my head, again leaving me missing a lot of hair. Luckily I was living on a Navajo reservation at the time and they taught me how to care for and style a proper mohawk, kept that hawk style for about 3 months then just decided to cut all my hair off.
Been wanting to go back to the mohawk for a long time now (gonna be 27 in july so its been awhile) but have been told over and over again not to because so many people covet my hair...now I am a firm believer in everyone is beautiful, including all those girls losing their hair to Chemo...one of them is getting a wig made out of over 16" of my hair for Christmas now. By taking a pair of clippers to my head and boosting my confidence in myself to be whoever I want, I in turn gave a little girl a little boost of confidence too :) I say this is a win for mohawks.
Whether it's fashion, fun, rebellion, etc...what made you don the hawk?

Hey there, I'm Carrie from Niles, Ohio. I just recently got my first mohawk after weeks of debating to do it. I've always been known for sporting oddball hair, but usually it was always just fun colors, I've been every color but green, (because green hates staying in my hair). I never thought I'd do a mohawk before recently but a few months ago I had made a joke about getting it to my manager at work and she was actually all for it, as well as most of my coworkers. Finally last weekend I bought clippers and took my husband shaved the sides for me. I've been digging it since. I've had mine for a week today. =)
So it was done for fun and because I wanted something new with my hair and edgy. I haven't been about to measure up yet though.
Hello, my name is Amalie, I'm from Denmark, Scandinavia, Europe. I got my first mohawk when I was 14. Because I wanted to.
HI! My name is Angela. I just moved to Troy, MI. I have been coloring and cutting my hair into all kinds of funky styles for 20+ years. I have had a shaved head and even dreads. Always wanting a mohawk but thinking it would not look good on me prevented me from doing so. I know, pretty stupid. I used to visit Royal Oak, MI. from Florida and there were plenty of ass kickin hawks walking around to see all the time. I just got divorced after 7 years of marrige and decided fuck it! I'm so glad I did it I love my hawk. Now I just need to go out and find some local bands to check out maybe make a few friends. I just recolored it, the pink is now purple and the green is a better color green, I even touched up the roots. I think I would like to have something fun shaved in the side of my head But I do not know where to go. I did have leopard spots colored on the sides for a bit. I liked that.
I'm Brittany from Jacksonville, FL! I'm also told the "don't because your hair is beautiful", blah, blah, blah!
I'm just a self-proclaimed outcast! Born with a disability (got lucky with it, though) so I'm used to being stared at for one reason or the other. When I was about 14-ish I went goth, just to move the staring from the braces on my legs to something else. Recently I became a youth soccer coach here and needed a shorter cut but didn't want to do my usual boring hairstyle when I'd previously shaved most of it off before.
So I figured, what the hell, and got the 'hawk done! Again, wanting to be more different, I had my neighbor shave the back of the 'hawk off about 3 months ago (I've had this for about 6 months) so now it's just the top with hair.
Hoping to dye it green and red for Christmas... My family'll love that... Hahaha!
