screw-on spikes keep falling off my jacket

Ok, so I'm putting a bunch of spikes onto my jacket but every day about 3 or 4 of the spikes fall off. Only the screw part remains. I'm sick and tired of it and I need a solution before the shit starts costing me lots of money. Anyone have a solution?

hand tighten to get em straight. And then screwdriver the fuck out of em.

That's exactly what I do and still! I'm thinking the fact that the jacket isn't a harder material like leather it adversely affects it.

I haven't used screw on spikes...i've only used the kind that tear up my fingers that you "clamp" into the material. do you think a small dab of glue inside the "female" end before you screw it on to the post would help? and I do mean a small dab...other wise your spike might look like they were having an accident. =(

I've thought of that as well. Although I'm not sure what kind of glue would work best. Elmer's glue comes off in the rain so that wouldn't work and using a hot glue gun would dry way too fast to get the 2 pieces together in time. I'm not very familiar with other glues. If you know of a glue that'd work, let me know.

Go to the hardware store and ask if they have any glues well-suited for metal, specifically a cheap stainless steel (which is most likely what your spikes are made of).

Most wood-worker's glue actually bonds pretty well to metal.

If neither of those options work for you, Krazy Glu *will* work -- I know from experience. Just be careful to only use a very small dot on the end of the screws and wait a few seconds for it to get tacky. If you get any on your fingers, nail varnish remover will work in a pinch as a solvent.

Yeah I'm gonna try a hot glue gun. I bought loc-tite and it works awesome, but dries so damn fast! I couldn't even screw on the spikes before it was dry.
