if you're making them yourself, check this site out: http://www.stencilpunks.org/ there's loads of help there.  Or if you''re in america you could try interpunk.com, but that's not really in the spirit of the group ;)
SWEET! Awesome site! Thanks!
no worries, have fun!  And be sure to get some pics up when you're done!
Will do!

Places to get patches (in order from biggest selection to smallest, if its a tie then from cheapest to priciest)

Interpunk

AYP (worst place for studs)

Crust Punks (stud quality is same as Studs And Spikes, but prices are crazy)

DogPile (not the search engine)

Punk And Pissed (got allot of other cool stuff cheap)

PunkStuff

Studs And Spikes (best place for studs, pains me to put this awesome site at the bottom)

You can make your own with screen printing ink (I prefer YuDu brand because it doesn't bleed). Your gonna need a sponge type applicator (either a dabber or a roller, dabber works better), an exacto knife to cut out the stencil, a printer to print the stencil, and fabric to print it on. A black or white canvas type material works best (easier to print black over white than white over black).

Unless you make a shitload of patches, its cheaper to just buy em, it removes human error and they last longer. If you plan on buying more than 100 patches, I'd advise making em.

thanks dude!

I screenprint them, and sell them via my clothing company for people who dress punk, crust, metal and skate, eheh

This one was screaming my name, I love them but alas my denim is no longer with us, time to break in a new one :)

I knew that you'd say that XD I saw an email entitled Patches replied to your discussion "Patches" and I knew where it was going XD

we (my daughter and I) make a lot of our own (she's 6)

I get my patches at shows
or you can buy them online... Ebay should have them for hella cheap.

or you can make them... I don't use cardboard for my stencils but instead i use poster board (or bristle board) cause cutting through cardboard sucks and dulls the shit out of my exacto knife.

eh, supplies (found at craft or art supply stores):

your stencil printed out (or drawn) on paper
exacto knife
extra blades (I use #11)

self-healing cutting mat ( or like a thick ass piece of cardboard so you don't cut up the desk/table you are working on)

fabric paint (I use tulip fabric paint matte finish they also have a softer paint which i'll try to get my hands on if i see it)
glue (i like spray adhesive but anything works as long as it sticks paper to paper)
Fabric of choice (most common is canvas or twill because its durable but really you can use anything.
paintbrush (optional)
pencil (optional)

Instructions:
paste stencil drawing to poster board.
now cut the stencil out through the poster board. (this is where your exact blade and healing mat/cardboard comes in)
place stencil on fabric of choice.
apply fabric paint over stencil. or if you are meticulous as fuck like i am, you will trace it out with a contrasting colored pencil and paint the fabric on there.

if you are REALLY FUCKING METICULOUS, you can just copy the picture straight onto your patch with a contrasting colored pencil and add fabric paint.

to help copy you need to print out your image, and draw a grid over it. then draw a grid on your fabric and copy the image.

You can also screen print them:
