Avengers Movie tie in thingy: Epic or Epic Fail?

What are your thoughts on all the new comic book movies leading up to (eventually) the Avengers movie? Is it really cool, or is it a rip off?

Personally, I ALREADY hate it because I don't believe in butchering good, no no, GREAT comic books and comic book heros so they can make money apealling to people who, if it was suppost to apeal to them, they would have bought the comics.

Well, my thing is, if they HAVE to do a movie (wich are only made to make money), they should at least INCLUDE the writer in production, if not make him the head of the project, so that nobody gets skrewed over like Gambit did in the new Wolvie movie. For some god's sake, all that was the same was his NAME! And I don't think thats its right at all to crunch many many years of comics into a single movie. Such as the entire "Origin" Wolverine story BEFORE the opening credits! But, an idea that I've had that probably won't go anywhere is, Why not have a stand alone story written for a movie? It just seems like so many movies (good AND bad) are completly unoriginal these days. Or maybe I'm just an idiot who can't stop ranting...... Maybe both.

i completely agree with everything u said. they should always include the writers or like u said people like Gambit get screwed. i was incredibly disappointed with how Gambit was portrayed in the Wolverine movie. and a stand alone story for a movie would be awesome however the problem with that is that it would be hard to explain everyone and everything to people who aren't fans. but if they do make a stand alone story movie it would be way awesome. but Neefesto is right the movies leading to the avengers have been really good. and i am way way excited about the avengers.

movie people are just fuck weird sometimes. if they tried to explain every avengers back story in the same movie, it would either be fucking long as hell or done horribly. the way they are doing it seems to be working, except for wolverine like u said, it's all been good.

that would be a very sad day. i kinda liked that movie but the more i actually think back on it, well it makes me sad :(

Its always a bad day for comics when a tradgety strikes.... Except when its acctually in the comics, then its usually pretty cool :)

Hellz ya they are! I was gonna make a shirt that says "Where Were You When Captain America Died?" but then the whole story with Skrulls, and then Bucky, and now hes "back" and all the other stuff made it like he never acctually died.... and I lost interest. And I was hoping hed acctually be dead untill all the grieving story lines were finished, but, alas, Cap just makes to much money :(

i like the cap. but it would of been cool if he'd stayed dead. i never read any of the stories when he died. lol i'm a little behind on my comic reading. i need 2 hit a comic book store and buy a shitload buuut i'm incredibly broke at the moment. so this buying will have to wait.

lucky. me and a friend would read her brothers comics because he had a lot and that's were i got most of what i read but schools over and my comic line has been cut.
