Relationships - Does your significant other believe in a god?

Wow, this is seriously the third topic I've created. We need to be a tiny bit more active people, haha! Anyway...

I'm just curious as to whether or not your significant other is also atheist, or if they believe in some sort of deity. I've got more details in my blog on my profile, but long story short, my boyfriend is a non-practising Christian.

It hadn't been something that bothered me, but he'd been flirting with atheism for a couple months only to retreat back to needing that imaginary friend. Half of me is bothered by the fact that he was so close to the truth only to freak out, the other half wants to drop the discussion and just let him be happy, even if it is in a false belief.

Your thoughts? Is your significant other religious, or at least believes there's a god?

It's very hard dealing with someone with a belief in invisible beings. I find it's just too tempting to get into a debate at times over it. Doesn't do any good usually, though can clear up how irrational they are about their beliefs.

Though it sounds like he has some sense of self-thinking there too. As long as his insecurity about needing it and zeal about it doesn't grow to impact on you too much, I'd say just be happy together.

I admit, I tend to avoid the complications of someone capable of believing in gods or spirits and coincidentally, I've seen a dating survey last year that also suggested most people avoid those who stated having a faith. Loads of reasons why any rational person would consider it a potential problem. Also, hard to be sure you have the same level of a particular faith and the other isn't over-the-top in some way about it!
