ok guns and ammo and shit is cool, whatever. You need something to sever the head and something (your foot also works) to crush the head. Dont go out and get a big as machete if you cant properly wield it. Looks will have no bearing on the zombies if you want to survive you need to be practical. Find something with a little weight in it you should be swinging this mother fucka with your soul anyways because your ass and everyone around depends on it. But the little extra weight will add some power and will allow for blows that landed where you intended not to be due to any reason to crush the bone or to sever a limb. Even if you get something a little heavy now you should start practicing heavily with it to build muscle memory and self refined skill.  When practicing take miyamto musashi's advice calm careful precision with an extra helping the basic fundamentals. Aim for severing the head remember blades are meant to cut so a hack wont cut (hehe) use slicing motions in your swings in a fluid singular motion lop of the zombies head and crush it with your foot you must study this well as it will be needed on Z day. Any crushing weapon you will find momentum to be your ally so get in a mind set of various different areas around your area where you may have confrontation and imagine whats the practical attacks open to me? Any? Overhead only? Or maybe worse only foward attacks. Do not fear if a zombie is sprinting towards you he will be so easy to knock off balance with a side swing giving you time from at least him to either run like hell or crush his fucking head. Remember destroy the brain.

Chain mail. Its relatively light and will give almost your entire body decent protection from nails and teeth.

if you could ahead of time secure a place where you could raise chickens and grow your own food and even cattle or horses would work too. than you just gotta fortify it from zombies to protect your family and livestock. Now dont get it wrong the more people in your little compound the better theres alot of work needed to be done to ensure your survival

Get knowledge now people, learn how to fight, cook, grow, and even sew now and dont stop there every foreseeable thing u can think of and than let everyone u know
