Mohawks Rock

WHAT DID YOUR PARENTS SAY THE FIRST TIME U GOT A MOHAWK?

Well I think I am ready to get a mohawk, but I am finding it hard to get them on board with my decision. I just like the looks of mohawk! I want to know the first time you asked your parents and what was their reaction??

LOL I can imagine that, nice to hear your brother being supportive of your 'hawk though.
Hmm. I went to my dad. and was like "Hey.. I'm going to shave my head and then spike it up very tall like and then i'm going to smile alot"
He just looked at me real weird and said "If thats what you wanna do than fine but dont cry to me when you miss yer hair"
:P
well i don't talk to my parents any more (mom died 7 years ago, dad's a douche) but my sister asked what i was rebelling from. all i could do is laugh. i'm 27 i don't need to rebel from anything. i've 13 piercings (10 above the neck) so i think if i was rebelling it's long over.
my father asked me if I had joined an eighties gang...my mother thought I was dressing like Mr. T as some kind of tribute
ah, me mah freaked oot teh first time, totally flipped..come ta think of it..she did that everytime..
meh dah didn't really mind so much, bitched when i turned 18 though
lol, i had been talking about getting one for a month, i hadnt cut my hair in like 4-5 years, it was really long and split all over the place. i was tired of it, so i told my mom one weeked i was gonna do it. naturally she didnt believe me but she told everybody about it o.O...didnt get it cut that weekend but the next, my friend alia was having a really crap week, so i took her with me and let her cut 14inches off. lol, it cheered her up alot:) i walked into walmart were my mom works in the deli, carrying my ponytail, screamed across the glass, held up the tail, "LOOK MA, LOOK WHAT I CAUGHT, I THINK IT MIGHT BE A KEEPER!!!" she looked at me O.O said i was crazy but she still loves me, lol, she actually likes it down kinda like a bob, so i didnt get in as much of a rear-chewing as i thought i would get. friends have mixed feelings about it, but in the end, doesnt matter what anybody thinks about it. i love it, cant wait to try different things with it (since just got it 3wks ago), and have a feeling its gonna be sticking around for a long time while:D
My mom flipped shit and threatened to kick me out of the house, but then she used it to brag to her friends and find me when I wander off.
My dad thought it was awesome, just like everything else I do
It was actually my parents idea for me to get a hawk in the first place! I got my first one in first grade, and have one now, but it's still growing out.
actually, my mom was shaving my head and i wasnt paying attention, and she cut it into a mohawk (PURLEY as a joke) and showed me a mirror, at first i was like HELL NO, but then i started to like it, i said "mom, i like it, i wanna keep it" she gave me the look like "WHAT?!?!?!?" i kept it, it was during the summer, and i let it grow out.

my mom hates me then but then soon realized that i keep good grades and if that is the only rebellious thing i do (as far as she knows ;;;;)))) then its cool with her.

i ve had it for two years now and it's starting to become my signature, so i may have to keep it! LOL!

(btw - dad really didnt say anything)
When I was in Highschool i got my first mohawk. I went almost a whole week without my mom noticing, i wore a beanie the whole time, even while i was sleeping. Then one day i was brushing my teeth and my mom was doing her hair. i had just dyed my hair the week before and she thought everyone was making fun of the color so she asked me how everyone liked my hair. i was like "umm, what do you mean?" then she caught a glimpse of my hair from under my hat and ripped it off. Yelling and swearing. She didnt talk to me for a week or so after that, and anytime we went to the store i had to wear a hat.

Then last year my brother and i gave each other hawks. I went about 2 days this time before she figured it out. she wasnt so drastic this time. but she still hated it. But atleast i didnt have to wear a hat all the time. then one day i needed a ride to a wrestling show, so she told me, if i cut off my hawk she would take me to the show... so the hawk is gone... for now...

Im planning on cutting it again after i go see my brother in North Carolina in March. I dont dare do it before, she wont take me with her if i do it now. Plus im trying to let my hair grow a little more before i cut it again.
Get out of the house..
And it was raining that day :(
I didn't really ask my parents seeing as how I was 20 when I got mine...I had been cutting my hair shorter and shorter for a few months. I use to have hair all the way down to the lower part of my back and one day I was just tired of it so I cut my hair into a longish pixie cut and I had that for awhile. Then I woke up one morning and was like, "I want a mohawk...NOW!" So I went to my stylist and got it done. It looks awesome and I love it so much! I am the only black girl with a legit mohawk in my area. None of that "ghetto" half-assed fauxhawk stuff for me. My parents didn't like it at first, but they've grown to like it. My boyfriend loves it and my friends love me even more for having it. I don't think I'll be getting rid of this thing for awhile :)
