Mohawks Rock

I am asked all the time why I do it? Everytime I answer this is who I am. The piercings, the tattoos and the hair. I chose a lifestyle of another kind, a kind that allows me to be separate from the norm of society. This is why I am posting, to find out how everyone else chose to live their lives the way they did. Was it for music, attention(but then fell in love with it), or was it just who you became over time? Just wondering what made us this way.

you know i have no idea why i have my tattoos, piercings, or the hawk... ive always been interested in them, ever since i was really little. i think being a "teachers pet" when i was younger and always having my parents approval for everything i did, made me subconsciously seek something out of the norm. ive also always been extremely shy and i think it was a way for me to overcome that. not to mention i have a big facination with subcultures and have a tendency to start becoming a part of them.
scars , piercings , hawks , cothes , are all things you collect and cling to as you go through life , after a while they form the basis of your personality , when I was younger I hated company so I went out of my way to become an outcast , the way I dressed and and wore my hair made this possible , no need to talk to dickheads when their too scared to come near you :) you may try other styles along the way but sooner or later you go back to what feels right for you , I have gone back to who I am on many occasions and will continue to do so , it's like stepping into another skin , only one that fit's you properly .
I used to spend a lot of time self-analysing my likes. 'Cause I was different in some ways, the more I looked inwards, the more I drew similarities with others.

Yes, there are aspects of me and the looks I like that are rare. But, I can't say I ever found a 'reason', just possibilities of things I saw when young that later I think may have had an influence. For example, when at primary school, I remember liking the red plumes on the pictures of Centurion Roman soldiers. Though, I still can't say why I found that interest in them that eventually led me to getting to my own Mohawk.

All I know is, that I like what I like and it shouldn't be an issue for anyone else if they think it through reasonably. We all like things about how we dress, look or haircut - that's the shared thing that we have likes, doesn't really matter how many people we share them with or not.
