I agree with you :) lol
and I am sterile as fuck and practiced for two months before I tattooed a real person
Depends on how well you want it to turn out, I would have no problem piercing my ears or nose myself but stuff like snakebites needs to be equal length apart so I'd pay to get them done, but I don't have £40 handy so I just won't get them done. the only piercings I got atm are in my ears and I got them done proffessionaly because It was a stretching experiment with 2 ontop of each other that i hadn't seen done before so I wanted them to look at whether they though it was possible. turned out fine but it definitely wouldn't have if I did it myself.
While it is certainly possible to do tattoos and piercings on your own, it is also usually a better idea to go somewhere else. My husband is a body piercer and one of the key elements to piercings is placement. People tend to just not give a fuck and say well "it's near my eyebrow, so it's an eyebrow piercing!" but it's really not that simple. Before I met him, I had my eyebrow pierced for free by an apprentice I knew at a shop, and while it didn't look awful, it didn't look great either. I had my husband re-do it and it looks far better. There are minute angles and degrees to placement, not to mention the issue of depth. Nothing looks worse than a piercing that is far too deep, or one that is so shallow it's rejecting. It takes around a year and a half for an apprentice to really get this down well.
As for tattooing... You're starting out right. At this point you may want to look into paying for an apprenticeship if you're looking to get into that field. The way the laws have been changing here, I know that tattoo artists who do parties and tattoo at home are being fined and are losing customers quickly. It's hard to find a tattoo artist who really knows what they're doing. It's far easier to find one who runs too lightly (Touchups every three months suck), as well as one who runs too deep. Not to mention it's always nice to find a tattoo artist who can actually draw and isn't just going to slap some flash on you. Nothing says forever like seeing the same identical tattoo on six other people in your town.
