Mohawks Rock

Just wondering how many punks here have ever fought for politics?  I only ask because the far-right are on the rise here in the UK.  They've got two main groups: the BNP stand in elections while the EDL trash mosques.  I protest against them and, at any given opportunity, I fight them.  Bare-knuckled usually, but a placard includes a nice wooden stick and the cuntstubbles never check my boots for toecaps.

Just me?

It certainly is not just you; but I would never do it and I condemn the use of violence and physical intimidation in politics. I also make a point of never taking sides or of holding any form of a moral code. In my opinion, humans are all just ants going about their silly little lives; I have no interest in getting mixed up in their squabbles.
I have fought with signs, marching, physical violence, music, and zines against the right, the industrial prison complex & for other causes. In the nineties if you didn't in the punk scene here you were in the minority. Fists don't change the way people think though, I learned as I got older. They heal up, get out of the hospital & they're even more convinced you were wrong and they were right, or they say so, just out of spite.

the funniest one was when I beat a neo nazi through the front doors of a moving bus on the way to work years ago. The bus driver wouldn't stop, so I had to improvise. He had swastikas all over him, I was sitting all the way in the back. When he started harrassing the black female bus driver on a bus full of minorities, with only a few non-minorities...the apathy around me made me lose it. The bus driver called the cops cause she said she had to for her job (cameras everywhere), but on my way walking the last 20 blocks to work, I saw them and they just pointed and waved at me.
i've fought for my beliefs on many occasions, edl are a worrying sort but when it comes to fighting its the edf (english defence force) you want to watch out for, all ex military types and pack a much bigger punch than the edl.
but on the other side of things how about the uaf? united against fascists, sounds like a good grouo but i've seen them do some evil things on marches and just on the street, skinhead mates of mine have been hurt (ironically sharps) by the uaf and one of my friends was killed by a uaf member because he had a skinhead although he was also a sharp (skinhead against racial prejudice)
its becoming increasingly apparent to me that the the anti fascists are the new fascists.
The new anti-fascists are too broad for their own good mate. They're bringing in far too many young lads who can't tell left from right and then not investing enough time into raising consciousness. The result is half-arsed activists with more violence in their hearts than sense in their heads who think they can spot a fascist just by looking. One guy even thought I was EDL!

We need to get this shit sorted!
definately, although i have a feeling problem may be deeper you know? i've read reports of upper echelons of uaf supporting murder etc,
i think its turned into too much of a system, the movement was good at heart but is slowly becoming as bad as those it fights, how can you have a leader of an anti fascist movement? in my opinion it shouldn't have one...
In my opinion it ought to have a leader, as it's too much to hope that a thousand-strong committee can make a coherent decision in the heat of a fight. However, a leader ought always to be A) democratically elected, B) accountable to referenda, and C) subject to democratic recall. UAF doesn't meet these, but they have big numbers as a redeeming factor.
heat of fight most rules go out the window anyway....
numbers is a redeeming factor though for me depressing, i have a real distaste for the uaf, and is sad to see so many people with decent political intention following a corrupted cause
Sadly, I don't think UAF fights enough. Dudley showed us that. The leadership were too concerned with PR to actually get down to business.

I suppose that may be just as well, as a lot of the Muslim lads who were out on the day had real trouble telling friend from foe. One of our own got a kicking cos he was mistaken for EDL, but he was just some white guy with a bald head.
exactly, but when you become a group like that and have members such as the horrid david cameron thats what becomes of you....
sorry to hear about white bloke, just goes to show how much hatred there is these days. there must be another way of going about things but for now i'll keep my boots on
