please help! save the piercings! (heatproof covering for piercings)

okay, so i just got a scaffold piercing today (crossed industrials) which is all well and good and wonderful.  but i'm also a ceramicist, and i normally fire my pots in what is called a raku fire.  This involves heating them up in a kiln to 1750 degrees farenheit, and opening it to take them out and put them in flammables.  normally i would take my piercings out because the first wave of heat hitting them can actually cause them to burn the inside of tunnels (one of my friends found this out the hard way) but since these are new i can't really take them out and i know with that much metal i'm liable to get burned.  so now it seems like the only option (other than taking them out) is to make some sort of heat proof covering for them.  i was thinking gauze and tinfoil but i don't know that i will be enough.

Has anyone been in a situation like this?

Ive never been in a situation like this before, but tinfoil sounds like it could fall off and be even more hazardous. Maybe some type or earmuffs that are protective?
