Mohawks Rock

I am not really sure where to put this post.
Here are two letters that are to ny Ink about our cause. I am a dialysis patient and my kidney donor is in huge favor of organ donation being talked about and spread around the world. Also she thinks more people should know and understand it.

This is Trishalynn's letter to them. "While I do want this Tat for Jessie, I have a larger motive. This is what I can do for the world. Jessie's first kidney came from a very young girl, the only real info we have from the donor is that she was a teenager and her mothers name was Emma. I have a friend (may as well be a family member) out in Texas, he is in his mid twenties and has been pretty much blind the majority of his life. He just had a cornea transplant that was donated by another mother from her child. She was about 7 years old. The nurse at my doctor's office wears a green wristband, it's in honor of the daughter she lost. The first thing she said when she was told her child was for all intents and purposes "dead" was to keep her alive mechanically so her organs could be donated. I can't talk to my friend or look at Jessie and NOT be reminded that a mother stood in her darkest hour and thought of others. I have gotten to meet so many other people in need of transplants. Bone marrow, kidney, liver and even heart transplant patients. They spend their life waiting to see if they matter enough to live. These are people that I WANT around me. They live their lives understanding what is great about life and they go about reminding everyone around them. When they GET a transplant, it is truly heralded as a gift. They take the life they have and they set about trying to give ten fold what they have received. I'm not much, but I can do this. I can show people just how much this matters. How much it can do for the world as a whole. I'm putting my life on the line for Jessie, my passion as an advocate for organ donation originates with Jessie but the tat is for those Mom's.
This is Mouse's letter to them......Dear Love Hate Tattoo Studio,

Hi, my name is Melissa and I am writing to discuss a tattoo that my partner, Trish, would like to get at your studio. We're really big fans of Miami Ink and know that your studio has the best artists around. She'd like to get an organ donor ribbon tattooed on her forearm. She's talked about including a kidney on the ribbon for kidney donation, but hasn't completely decided on the design. I know she'd like the tattoo to be at least a couple of inches long. She'd like to use this tattoo as a means of getting people to talk about organ donation and hopefully persuade them to register as organ donors. Any information on costs, designs, or available times that you can give me would be appreciated.

I was also wondering if you'd be interested in providing some publicity for a very close friend of ours who is in dire need of a kidney. Her name is Jessie and she's 23 years old. She was born with a number of medical problems, one of which was kidneys that didn't function properly. She went on dialysis at 7 and was blessed with a kidney transplant at 11, but at 18 her transplant became infected and she lost it. She has been trying to get on all of the transplant lists that she can get on, but she has been having some difficulty with the efficiency of some of the programs. She just received word last week that she will need a special treatment to help ensure that she doesn't reject the kidney that Trish has offered to give to her. We would really appreciate it if you would consider this request. It would mean a lot to us. Without assistance their is a good possibility that she will not be able to receive a kidney and will probably die before her 25th
birthday. If you would like to know more about her condition before committing to helping us you can contact Trish at orphicdragon@aol.com or me at madscience@rocketmail.com. I'm also providing a link to an article that was done on her by a local newspaper; it's not the best article, as some of the information isn't accurate, but I'm hoping that it will help with your decision.

If you believe like Trishalynn does, that donation is a good thing for EVERYBODY. That the more people who advocate and teach about organ donation is a wonderful thing the better everyone is. If you believe the lives saved will impact the world ten times over in a GOOD way. Write in and help her with that mission.
The email address is nyinkcasting@gmail.com. I would also like to say that I am Jessie in all of this btw. And I have been a showing off my Hawk since Nov '10! Please help us.
