Mohawks Rock

i never forum so i dont really care how this turns out. but i had originally got my hair cut at a barbers and they completely did what i told them not to so i have resorted to self styling. i had originally had for about 3 months a mohawk that i called the "MoFauxHawk" because the idiots who cut it cut my like long hair to about 2 or 3 inches and i have a mohawk that was faux because it was too damn short. my hair also at that time was about 1/2" on the sides (clipped or buzzed whatever you wanna call it) and the top was all one length of about 2 or 3 inches. the back was about 3/4" due to my previous hairstyle and i would always cut the back short and have the top long. anyways. i decided to attempt to cut my mofauxhawk into a true mohawk. i went to my girlfriends and had her buzz or clip or whatever the top. so i left about 3" of hair across that goes down the center of my head. both sides of the stripe have been clipped down to 1/2" (i dont like mine any shorter than 1/2") and the center is like 4 or something inches. problem is the back is still stupidly short. and also my mohawk is not centered. my right side has about an extra 1/2" to it. im just afraid ill mess up and then ill keep going back and forth till i got no hair left. but i want it to be equal on both sides. i also have to fix up the back (have my sister or girlfriend do it). but whats the best way to make sure the front is centered well and even on both sides.ill also post this in the forums cause i might get some hits there. and i use ICE spiker glue and GOT2BGLUED hairspray (actually i never use the spray cause that glue keeps it held incredibly and its water resistant).

Uhm I just use a bic razor every week or so, that'll give the short mohawk (like mine ><) look soo much better and defined. I don't think that there really is a way to "make sure" that its even on both sides. A good "rule of thumb" is to have it be the width of the insides of your eyebrows. If you think that'd be too skinny then just go by your best judgment.

I get mine trimmed by a professional stylist. (She's supperr punk rock and knows exactly what I want) So maybe go to someone you can trust? Like not a complete stranger- People often want to destroy what they don't understand because it intimidates them.

I had the same problem with the back being too short. I just had to cut the top gradually and give the back time to grow before it evened out.

Spiker gel works wonders for my hair too! =] After a few days of wearing it up with the gel I'll touch it up with a little got2b freeze spray.
I had da same problem accept my mohawk length is evenly 4 inchez... but wun side wuz more then the otha ... I got it fixed at da barbaz by the way Im Belizean n my hair is type nappy soo I use honey Beez wax.... but I hear of got2bglued I hope dat wurkz on my thick hair....
I had braidz B4 I got the mohawk which wud probably explain the bak of my hair havin gud lenth .... maybe if u try doogro megathick because I use dat n my hair growz really fast
doogro works? I sell that shit and have been trying to convince my friend to try it.
specific to you: try relaxing your hair, too, it might help.
if you're spiking your hair up, the glue might be too heavy. I have insanely thick hair and the longer mine got the more likely it was to separate and fall...I use hairspray now, and it's nice and all of that.
plus side: hairspray is a lot easier to wash out than wax or glue, especially on thick hair.

OP: try shaving with two mirrors. Comb out the mohawk so it'd be even and put that shit that you're keeping in a pony tail. what isn't in the pony tail you can shave off. Have a girl help you with that. it lessens the risk of you cutting chunks into your hair... I do that a lot. just don't catch your guard in the hair and make sure you clean up your lines all nice and stuff. haha it can be annoying.
