mohawk width

A few weeks ago i was forced to shave my 2'' mohawk after gettin in a fight, and im planning on redoing it in about a month when its back to two inches. how wide should it be if i plan on growing it out to 6"? i'll probably be fanning it not doin spikes. also, would it look silly to have a mohawk of that width thats only 2 inches? thanks to everyone who helps
