Before you paint anything, go over the area your going to be painting with rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball. This gets rid of the protective coating that causes shit to rub off, rather than stain.
1- Cut out a stencil from stencilpunks with an exacto knife (there are other websites for stenciling, but most of the time they arent "stencils," and are just black and white pictures, everything on stencilpunks.org is a stencil)
2- Tape it down to the jacket. Any tape will do, but packing tape works best.
3- Using a heavy body acrylic paint (Liquitex works best, but thats just in my experience) and a sponge paint dabber or sponge type roller go over the stencil.
4- Its a good idea to go over it with an acrylic sealer.
I'd recommend card stock, if your your only gonna use it once then any kind of paper.
If you plan to use the stencil more than once, then use Elmers Rubber Cement to glue the stencil (on regular printer paper) onto a piece of cardboard (like a cereal box)
Unfortunately thats the only good stencil site out there. They are the only website that strictly uploads stencils and not black and white images.
Liquid Stitches to glue it on, or use fishing line to sew it on (thread is too weak and gets cut on the leather). To get sections of whatever your putting fabric on (like the section the zipper covers when zipped up) tape a bunch of newspapers together and lay em over the area, then trace an outline of what your covering. Cut out the traced newspaper with scissors and lay that on your fabric, then cut the fabric out.
My advice for fabric is to check Joannes Fabrics dumpster. They cant keep all their shit on the shelves and throw away stuff they cant sell quite often. Theyre prices arent bad, around $3-12 for a yard of fabric, and you can get cheaper at small "Ma And Pa" shops, or cut up shit you dont use anymore (I got a plaid sleeve on my jacket made out of my old baby blanket. Slept with that thing until I was 10, like a badass)
Might be some spelling errors and whatnot, on a laptop in a traffic jam in Georgia.
