Mohawks Rock

Ok, so I need a job. My mohawk isn't really that long, but any length more than about an inch is considered "crazy" where I live. As many of you have guessed, I'm having a hard time finding a job, especially ones where I must be in front of people such as cashier or even shelf stocker (not even Wal-Mart would take me.) So where are some places that a guy like me can get a job? PS: NOT WORKING AT HOT TOPIC.

I also believe there is a group with plenty more discussions and tips.
Okay:

1. If you can't get a job anywhere else, what would be wrong with hot topic? It would be a source of some money ( And before the shit flies - I work there for fun. And I'm in the fucking BIBLE BELT haha. I work full time at Target, leopard print and all working backroom and stock.)
2. Try Mcdonalds or some shitty food place then if your standards allow it - a HAT covers your head, and usually they won't give a fuck then.
3. Dishes. Restaurants.
4. Go to Culinary School.

5. What jobs are you even qualified for? That would be a lot easier to give suggestions.
I do agree, My girlfriend and I have both done are shares of Hot Topic Working , I worked there for fun and she's the manager now she too started out in the Bible Blet lol!!! and It's an awesome place to work if you like fashion music and to work for a company who has health insurance and benefits and alot of oppritunity to move up if your willing to do it:)
Definitely! If you love music and really are a library for every single band you've ever heard, that's a great place to be. The manager's meeting in CA every year...I'm so jealous.

I just left after 3 years of being pt. taxes were too fucked up again to be working and having to pay them next year when I'm strapped for cash lol.
i used to work at a target in the biblebelt....they loved my "oddness"...tho it was pre-hawk i did have all my piercings and they loved it
definitely! my stl fucking loves me. everyone in that store knows who I am. I haul ass and get shit done (plus i'm in charge of stuff!) lol. mohawks are a welcome sight in my store. just got someone else to do it, too.
gangsters adn thugs some of my friends sell records some of my freinds sell drugs.. thats what tim armstrong said...
Try guitar shops...that's what I am gonna start looking for.
It really shouldn't be that difficult to find a job with your mohawk...just wear it down. I have green, purple, black, and blue hair; piercings and tattoos, etc....and I don't have any problems finding a job. Work in a warehouse, at a tattoo shop, video game/comic book store, alternative clothing store, call center, or anywhere you won't have to directly deal with people. I work at a tattoo shop right now, but I worked at Target and Circuit City crazy hair and all with no issues. It's all about your work ethic, not your appearance. Make it clear that you want the job and you'll work hard for them.
Manufacturing. I don't know how old you are but most entry level manufacturing ans production work have night shifts where they won't care what you look like. I started out at 18 (looking some what normal) and have worked in the same industries for 10 years now. I have a pink hawk, facial piercings and this weekend i'm getting a tattoo on the side of my face. I make cattle tags from 11pm-7am. Other things you might be able to do- anything run by cool independent people- coffee shops, head shops music/cd stores. If you're will to keep it down and tie it back you could work in the back at most food places. Phone work. Just about anytime i can't find a job i go black to call centers. I've never gone with out a job but i've had some really crapy ones. You're just gone to have to work twice as hard to find and keep a job when you look "different" it sucks but it true. Just pass out more apps and try more places.
try weird restaurants, like ones that wouldnt care. i worked at the hard rock in boston (retail), i could only wear it down though. they kept saying they respect individuality and all my co workers begged me to put it up (it was at its tallest maybe 10-11 inches at the time) and one manager said i wasnt allowed to and she would give bad looks to those asking me to put it up. its funny cause in meetings theyd say "we are awesome cause we let girls with mohawks work here and boys with tattoos". it was just limited
Find a job where the dress code is creative and where you are valued for your skills and not for the way you look. These companies do exist, and the number of them increases steadily.

In my company, three guys besides myself spot a mohawk and almost everybody has piercings and / or tatoos.
I live in Germany which is much more conservative than the US, and I know several entrepreneurs and companies which accept mohawks at work. I personally would rather hire somebody who is smart, creative and works hard and has a mohawk and five tatoos than somebody who comes with a suit and is a boring moron.
