Help on liberty spikes

I've got about an 8" or so (someone measured it the other day because they wanted to know how long it was, it was kinda odd) hawk. I normally put it up into liberty spikes (I find it holds better like that than in a fan). I use got2b spray and hair glue. I can normally make this last for about 5 days just retouching it every day, but sometimes (like today) I'll find that one (or today two) spikes will just start to bend and flop and it's next to impossible to get it to stay straight.

It probably doesn't help that I have really thin hair. Anyone got any tips?
