Halloween

So for halloween i decide i want to mohawk my hair. having no idea how to go about doing this, i may be biting off more than i can chew. what is a good method for doing so when one's hair is not actually cut to be a mohawk? mine is about a foot long, think, and semi unmanageable.
any hints or tips (or volunteers to help me on saturday haha) would be GREATLY appreciated
