Has anyone ever added a side panel to jeans before?
I'm putting tiger print material as a side panel on mine and was wondering do i really need to unhem the jeans first if they fit fine?
Or can I just leave them as they are and sew the tiger print material over the denim?
Thanks

I once had jeans which got too tight for me. I opened the seams and inserted a stripe to fit them again. Sewing was easy with a sewing machine then. If you're going to sew by hand it should go well without opening the seams, but if you use a machine you will need to open the seams.
if you want it to look good you should remove a panel of the denim from the side (if they fit you well to begin with) and add the same amount of the new material to the side. you do not need to unhem them just hem the new material to match after you sew it to the jeans.

the easy way would be to sew it over the jeans, it would work but it wouldnt look nearly as good..
