are there any differences between dental tape and dental floss?

like sewing wise. because i'm running outta floss and i only have tape left so i was wondering what the difference is and if any one has used dental tape and wtf is dental tape anyway? floss and tape look the same to me tbh.

I'd advise against using floss as thread altogether, it disintegrates over time from moisture and breaks easily. Never heard of "dental tape"
yeah but this is the cheap dental floss that you could probably kill someone with and it is for a top that iwont be wearing all to often and hand washing. =) and it is better than the cheap thread here as i would have to seriously double up on the thread and im not to bothered with it breaking after wear and tear as i will prolly take it appart before it dies anyway but ta. i didn't know it disintegrates tah for that. =D yeah i think the stuff is the same it is just got a diffrent name and a different color boxy thingy.
In that case, go for it. "Dental Tape," is that the brand name or somthin? Sounds like tape used to keep your teeth in
nah it is just like tescos brand dental tape instead of tescos brand dental floss. it looks the same. haha well my teeth arent falling out. and i hope they dont anytime soon as i HATE dentists.
Coming from someone who has to floss after I eat anything, cheap floss is awful! It breaks easy. Goodluck with what your doing though!
dental floss is defo the way forwards i use it on all my stuff and i machine wash em never had a single problem so i dono what u were using m8

i use string to sew, just double up the thread and its amazingly strong, it rips through my jeans before the string itself will break

and theres lots of cool colors:)

yeah but it is expensive for me to just double up on thread works out cheaper and stronger if i just use floss, =) two 50m rolls of floss is like 80cent here and one spool of 100m thread that i will need to double up on is like 1euro30. so it works out cheaper and as it is cheapy floss it can garrote an ox.
I just have one really big spool of black thread and one really big spool of white thread... Found them in the trash so they were free.
niceee. yeah i think i might get embriodery thread at the second hand stores.

maybe it's just a name thing, like supper vs. dinner (which one could argue is different, but I am from Canada, so I do not protest)

Maybe it's like arguing over the pronunciation of worcestershire sauce

or maybe... check wikipedia?
